I recent got a 8820 from my company and i tried to insert a 4GB micro card which i was using in my ATT Tilt since 3 months. Each time i tried to insert the card, the phone would just black out with a red light indicator continuously blinking. If i remove the card then the desktop would appear again. Just wondering is it the card or the device? Note that the card works fine when i put it back in the Tilt. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Make sure that you have the microsd card installed correctly.
BlackBerry devices that have media card capabilities are: 8100, 8300 and 8800.
They all use a MicroSD card and have the following maximum card GB capacities:
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8GB
The fact that MicroSD is written at the back of the BB 8820 phone makes me believe that it does not support MicroSDHC. The Maximum MicroSD card size is 2GB. Any card >2GB is a MicroSDHC. I need to talk to RIM support to confirm this.
I have been using a 4 gig card in my 8820 for over 6 months. I have over 2.5 gig of music loaded and another 900 meg of video. All accessible. OS Ver 4.2.2 definitely supports 4 gig. I have also used this card in an 8830.
Now... there have been numerous reports of bogus cards being sold on eBay and Amazon. I would be far more suspect of the card than I would of the 8820.
