Hi i am sorry if this has been asked before but I am new here & I wanted to know if the 5.0 os will be coming out for the curve 8330 for Verzion. I really want a blackberry but don't want to wait for the niagra but I like the look of the new software. I also don't want to pay too much for the niagra. I like the curve 8330 but I would rather have the new software. Thank you so much.

at the rate Verizon Validates the Operating systems that RIM gives them, I would expect a longer wait

do you really think it's worth having the latest software on an outdated phone? You can bet that the Niagara will be released waaaaaay before verizon releases 5.0 OS..........Get a Niagara

    Niagra > Curve

Yeah it kind of is. Its a year old. Anything in technology that is a year old is dated but its still a great device.

Heck, the Niagra is already 4+ months old. It's an 8900 minus WiFi with a 4.6 OS and that's been out since the first of the year in some places.

But with Berries, really a year isn't a great advancement in technology, you can only do so much with a ARM based embedded device running Java Software on top of a Kernal and Java Virtual Machine. The only real differences in the new units are bigger screens, 3G or EVDO Rev.A, and quicker CPUs

BB's are made to be used for more than a year, the OS updates so it rolls with new technology, and they don't break down like other phones do... they're just made better, that's what you get with high-end phones.

I agree. I am still using my old 8100 when I travel. My wife is using an 8310 and I have easily the best Blackberry on the market, the 8900.

The sales life of phone is typically 24 months but the old Curve is such a fantastic device that it will hold its own against may newer models.

If you want a phone that almost never fails but suffers from slightly cheap manufacture, go and get an 8900.
