    Hi,

If you are about to buy BerryWeather for $10, you may want to know this. Weatherbug is very similar and also provides detailed weather summaries in sentences whereas BerryWeather DOES NOT. Summaries come in handy with snow, wind, temperature changes, rain totals, and many other situations too.

    Why is this important?

Perfect example is this: I live in Colorado and it snowed the past three days. BerryWeather just said snow in the forecast for each day. That is all. I think if you are going to get 1-2 inches or 6-12, it is good to know that. Not just that there is snow each day.

Weatherbug gave accumulation summaries in the detailed weather info. As the three day storm evolved, so did Weatherbug update the totals. This is extremely useful for someone like me that lives near the mountains.

Some have complained about Weatherbug using more memory than BerryWeather. This is true, but memory issues may or may not ever be noticeable to you. Just like prescription drugs, not all get side effects. I have never had any performance issues on my Storm due to Weatherbug. I have many apps on my phone and OS beta .122.

I am surprised this has not been brought up in other threads, but thought it was a valid thing for everyone to know trying to decide on paying for BerryWeather. I was very disappointed when I saw that.

I felt this deserved its own thread since this is a pretty big difference between the apps. (Radar missing in BerryWeather but getting added later has already been covered)

Some have complained about Weatherbug being buggy. About 90% of the time, I wait no more than 40 seconds to get an update to my phone. The info that Weatherbug provides on each screen is far more detailed then any other weather app out there and is worth having to refresh occasionally on your own. Memory has also not been as big a factor as I am running Beta .122 and it never slows me down.

I live in Colorado as well and the "Alerts" kept me up to date on where it was going to get pounded.

Detailed summaries may be included in the next update, but I'm not sure. I'm not all that bothered by it not being included. It would be nice though because I think that this is an amazing app.

I am not saying Weatherbug is for everyone. Memory issue (i.e. phone performance) has been a problem for some, but not all users. It depends a lot to do with what is on their phone and the OS they are running. Memory and Weatherbug has never been a problem for me and for others as well.

All I am saying is it is free, has a ton of weather info, and has worked well for many. I know that it isn't for everybody though. If you are considering the $10 for BerryWeather, some might want to know that you do not get detailed weather summary information as you get with Weatherbug.

This could be big for some people who like it for situations I mentioned at the top of this thread. (i.e. snow totals, wind, rain, etc.)

I was a beta tester for Berryweather and know for a fact that the creators of Berryweather are looking for a better place to get the information and alerts than where they currently get it. The lack of more detailed info, radar, and updates more often were discussed during the beta and Bellshare (the creators of Berryweather) is actively working on improving these things.

Weatherbug rocks! Never had a issue with it. The great thing about it too is that it uses more local places for stations so you have a better chance of having a station close to you.

That's why I run both of them. I've had no problems with leaks or performance.

You also can't deny that Weatherberry looks cool. Eyecandy is something sorely missing from many Storm apps.

BerryWeather all the way. Weatherbug has memory leaks. And Berryweather does give summaries, i live in Nellis AFB in nevada ( 10 minutes away from vegas ) and i get details on wind advisories, storm advisories, etc.

^^^Those aren't "Summaries"! Information such as: High Temp, Lo Temp of the day, Amount of Precipitation for the Day, are "Summaries". And NO, BerryWeather does not do that. At least not yet.

Thanks. This is good to know as I like the detailed info. I'll likely stick with Weatherbug despite potential memory issues. Good-looking weather programs are great but the information provided is a bit more important to me.

The best difference in favor of berryweather is the speed with which it shows you the first screen. It takes weatherbug much longer to get there.

"Current Conditions" with Berry Weather is not even close to accurate for me.
The icon shows the sun and "Fair" conditions as I go to work on a cloudy rainy day.

That's the place that gives BerryWeather the info not the program's problem itself. Accurate for me here in Sunny San Diego!

Well, I live in Rancho SF and it was Hot yesterday and expected today. There is a huge difference in Temperature from the Ocean to Inland. So, it's hard to give an exact temp for all areas of SD.

What exactly are you struggling with? The OTA link provided a couple of posts prior works fine. Use your Blackberry browser to go there.

If Berry Weather does not have an accurate data source, then the app should never have been put up for sale until an accurate souce was found.

Guess its the same garbage when they try to add radar.

I nkew something was fishy, when there was a contest on CB for free copies,
and the winners was never posted. Or maybe I missed that post.

I am starting think that Bellshare knew about the inaccuracy, and that is why they lowered the price.

They didn't realize beforehand that there was such an issue with the different weather stations. That's what it comes down to. Berryweather has no control over when the weather stations update. It is as accurate as the station will let it be. You can set it to update every 30 minutes but if the station only updates every 1 to 2 hours then its out of Berryweather's hands.
Like I said they are actively trying to correct the problem.
