Uneducated Storm owners are funny. lol.
- So I went home over the weekend for Easter Break, and one of my brother's friends noticed that I had gotten the Storm. I've had it since January, and he's had his since the week it was released.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE WAY HIS MOUTH DROPPED WHEN HE SAW ALL OF THE THINGS I WAS ABLE TO DO WITH MY PHONE. It was pretty hilarious. lol.
He had no other apps, other than what already came installed on the phone, no other games, didnt even realize that you can have three rows on your homescreen instead of 2! haha. It's always funny to me when I notice that someone has a Storm and I ask them how they've enjoyed it. Most people say "ahhh, its cool. I like it." Then when I take a glance at their phone I notice that they have NO BUSINESS owning this phone and giving an opinion on it if they have NO IDEA how to use it to its fullest potential. haha. The guy didnt have ANY IDEA about the app store...didnt even have weatherbug installed for God's sake!
I feel that a law is in order to demand EVERY Blackberry Storm owner to sign up on Crackberry and check it daily. No point in wasting all of that money on this highly capable phone if ur just gonna use it like one of the old Nokias. lol. Might as well just get a Boost Mobile
Anyone else run into these "out of touch" people and feel the need to adopt them??? lol04-15-09 08:03 AMLike 0 - My fiance falls into that category, but she fortunately has myself to keep her up to date. Her crowning acheivement to date is moving the icons around on the home screen.04-15-09 08:09 AMLike 0
- agree 100% to this - Im a professional but I started going back to college to further my education -- I see kids (i say kids cos im 39 and they are 19-20ish) with storms not even knowing what makes blackberries different from other phones - no idea what bbmessenger is etc04-15-09 08:21 AMLike 0
- LMAO.... Well I feel bad for those who don't know.
I just got my Storm two weeks ago and I been learning all that I can. My friend had it since it came out so I had a lil help from her.
I've had a few co-workers and friends buy the Curve and they ALL come to me on questions about it.
I be like "What Am I, the BB Tech now??" LMAO
But, it's cool. I love to help so it doesn't bother me one bit. The only way knowledge spreads is if you share it.
So Share Away !!!!!!04-15-09 08:26 AMLike 0 - So I went home over the weekend for Easter Break, and one of my brother's friends noticed that I had gotten the Storm. I've had it since January, and he's had his since the week it was released.

My feelings are on this that (being my first bb or smart phone) this is very rude. These forums are supposed to be for people like me and who you are talking about to learn how to do that stuff and get into it. some of us were not born with the silver spoon so mommy and daddy didnt buy us everything we wanted. I am learning alot from these forums but its people like you that shy us all away from asking questions because youwould flame us for not being god like you are.04-15-09 08:30 AMLike 0 - My feelings are on this that (being my first bb or smart phone) this is very rude. - I have to agree with stormerman. Informational elitism, especially with regard to technology, is really very rude. Not everyone can be aware of every single thing. There are people with Storms out there that know maybe 1% of what I know, but I'm betting they know a lot of stuff I don't know, too. They don't go rubbing their knowledge in MY face or condescending to me because I'm ignorant about their area of expertise. Sigh.
I too dont need to have 1gig of apps but i like sports e-mail and web04-15-09 08:39 AMLike 0 - I understand your feelings Stormerman but shaydakiss23 does have a valid point. You should buy something because your going to use it and use its features not because "can". Even the sales person who delt with you should have told you SOMETHING about what it can do. Its got nothing to do with a silver soon, its just common sense. It would like buying a new 911 Turbo and only driving at 60kph and claiming you had NO idea it could go faster.04-15-09 08:45 AMLike 0

And "silver spoon...mommy and daddy buying me everything I wanted???" GIVE ME A BREAK! Raised POOR, by a single black mother, NEVER HAD A FATHER IN MY LIFE. So please save that sob story for somebody else. I'm no kid who's "mommy bought me a Blackberry Storm and I think im some genius." I'm a 23 year old college grad who works at two universities, and will start grad school in september, WHO HAS BOUGHT EVERYTHING (included the freakin phone) FOR MYSELF AND LIVED ON MY OWN SINCE I GRADUATED FROM HIGHSCHOOL AND STARTED COLLEGE FOUR YEARS AGO!
Next time you let your feelings get involved, try not to speak on anything you know NOTHING about. It really wasnt that serious, and it sucks that you took it that way.04-15-09 08:51 AMLike 0 - I understand your feelings Stormerman but shaydakiss23 does have a valid point. yes and no..because i needed the functions i have pushed e-mail web access rss feeds and sleek looking name another phone that fits the bill? with the ability to read doc's yeah i get a few apps but the storm was exactly what i needed as a professional, just because it can compete or be used like the Iphone doesnt mean thats what everyone that bought it will use it for. Rim is know for it sleek and professional phones....Blackberry fits my needs just because i can do those things doesnt mean thats why everyperson with a storm bought them. I would say probably 6-7 out of ten people bought them for functionality of the buissness side not for the apps and games and music player, while i enjoy having those options you also wouldnt go but a chevy caviler knowing that you needed a ford F-150 see my point? If I chose a dumb phone Im stuck with non-pushed e-mail...and I HATE windows mobile04-15-09 08:53 AMLike 0 - My feelings are on this that (being my first bb or smart phone) this is very rude. I also don't think he was refering to you or anyone in your current position. Your on here learning as much about your device as possible as are most people on this site.
I feel the same way when I see someone with any personal BB and the only things they use are the phone, SMS/MMS and maybe the calendar and alarm clock. I have no animosity towards them at all or feel any need to be little them, maybe they were uninformed when buy they're last phone, it happens.
It's jus a shame that the BB is going to waste as well as the person that is probably wasting money on the expensive phone and expensive plan.04-15-09 08:53 AMLike 0 - Well how can I put this nicely, not every owner of a Blackberry uses the phone to its potential. Some like my self are very in tune with what these phones can do. IMO, people have the option of using the phone to there potential and learning from places like CB and other websites! Do not knock the person who uses there phone for email, web, and appointments. I read these forums all the time & between OS threads, rants, raves, people asking serious questions, & informative forums. The so called uneducated people & educated people (who some I believe think they are elitists). Here what I say to them:
"HELP THE PEOPLE WHO WHAT TO BE HELPED & LEAVE THE PEOPLE WHO USE SAID PHONE FOR SIMPLE TASKS!!!

lol perfect placement of faces..i dont want this to turn heated so imnot going to point and push...was just making a statement that not everyone wants to do this stuff with their phone and should not be condemed for being 'DUMB' because they want style and functionality (btw i am horrible at spelling)04-15-09 09:00 AMLike 0 - Well how can I put this nicely, not every owner of a Blackberry uses the phone to its potential. And thats fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine for someone who WANTS to use their phone for those purposes. If you read my post closely, you'll see that i'm talking about the people LIKE HIM who's "mouth dropped" after seeing what I could do with my phone. HE WAS UNAWARE...and INTRIGUED by what his investment was capable of!!!!! Those are the people i'm speaking on. Not the people who know how to use it and choose not too. And not the people who are on crackberry complaining horribly about my post, because apparently they're intrigued as well, and are making an effort to learn the things they're curious about.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!04-15-09 09:05 AMLike 0 - Are you serious right now??? Whats the deal with all the feelings man? If YOU'RE on the forums trying to learn things about the phone then APPARENTLY im not talking about you or anyone like you! The guy hasn't TOUCHED crackberry...and I just thought it was hilarious that he thought he was getting something out of the phone when there's so much more to get.

Stop acting like a child.04-15-09 09:06 AMLike 0 - I'm very familiar with the ins and outs of my Storm, so I'm fairly certain your original post isn't directed at me, either. However, I am still offended by it, because it's very rude. Your life story, no matter what it is, doesn't grant you the right to be a condescending or rude.

I was the first to own a Storm in my organization & a first time owner to boot. As others have acquired their Storms, I have done my best to pass on the secrets and tips I have learned. I am just trying to better their experiences as much as possible.04-15-09 09:09 AMLike 0 - just fyi this is why im out...meant no one no harm and wasnt trying to offend just sharing my side of something....later04-15-09 09:09 AMLike 0
- Yes, you are. It's childish to act better than other people because you know something they don't. It's childish to condescend to and patronize people. It's especially rude and childish to say "aww, I want to adopt these poor, uninformed people." Trying to elevate yourself by putting others down is the very crux of childishness.
edit: Maybe it's just the way you are presenting yourself here. As others have pointed out, your tone is very condescending and rude. There's nothing wrong with pointing out that there are many, many uninformed people out there, nor is there anything wrong with wanting to inform them of what they can do with their devices. But your tone suggests that you think you are above these people.Last edited by rh224; 04-15-09 at 09:14 AM.
04-15-09 09:11 AMLike 0 - Suggesting you might be a spoiled rich kid was unfair. I respect the fact you have pulled yourself up by your "boot straps" and are pressing forward with you education. I think the other poster was put off by the tone of your post. You come off sounding like a bit of a pretentious j*rk. Please don't take that as a personal attack, it is just a characterization of the tone of your post.
