I'm sick of hiding my storm.
- Yes, this is a rant.
Every time someone asks to see my phone, it is misbehaving, so I hide it.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's the exceptional phone it's supposed to be.
But most often: hourglass. reboot. slow.
I update OS's, I try hybrids, I delete languages, I delete apps,
I properly close apps, I schedule reboots for 5 a.m... etc.
I still only boot up with about 20Mb of memory.
Why the heck am I jumping through hoops for a phone I stood in line for?!?
I have to fight the urge to throw it as hard as I can into my office wall at least once a day.
I have to fight the urge to chuck it out of my car window almost as often.
I want to be able to show my friends and clients a phone that works...
I want to be able to say: Look at what this phone can do!
instead of... oh... it just rebooted... wait 5 minutes... maybe it will work then.
What a brilliant idea RIM had - release a phone before it's ready
and sit back and let a million users troubleshoot the problems for them,
and test out OS "Leaks"... for free... and we paid them $300 for the honor!
When will this phone be out of BETA??04-14-09 09:24 AMLike 0 - Yes, this is a rant.

- Wow...maybe you got a lemon? I love my storm. I am on .75 and I don't have any problems. I usually have around 40 mb of free memory and it really doesn't slow down all that much throughout the day - I also have about 30+ apps on the device (includes the preinstalled word/exl/ppt/note/other apps).04-14-09 09:40 AMLike 0

For instance, going to hang out with some friends? Do a battery pull when you pull up in the driveway so the phone will be rebooted and ready to go by the time you walk in the house.
It would be kind of weird if someone asked to see your phone and then you said, "sure, hold on, let me take my battery out first and put it back in... standby for 2 minutes."04-14-09 09:45 AMLike 0 -
- I think the point he was trying to make is that the guy should do a batter pull before he gets in a "social situation" where someone might ask to see his phone.

So when people asked to see it I'd say "sure but be warned, it sucks as it decides whether or not it wants to work quickly at its own discretion".
My friends with iPhones got a kick outta that but even they admit the phone works a lot better now than what it did before. Some even really like the phone, if the folks on here can imagine such a thing.
Sometimes this girl I know with an iPhone will jokingly ask "so does your phone still randomly turn itself off?".
Dunno why people get so angry or heated up over this...it's just a phone folks. If it doesn't work, take it back, get another one or raise **** and get a different phone period.
I haven't pulled the battery out in who knows how long. The only time I do it is after an OS update. The only time I reboot the phone is when I have to due to installing/unistalling/updating an app. No lags and the memory is always good.Last edited by fecurtis; 04-14-09 at 02:19 PM.

See what I'm getting at here?
Sorry you wasted your effort, time, and money taking a piece of garbage and making it "fast".
I'm not getting mad over a phone, I couldn't care less about the phone. Just noting that you're a troll who owns a car that no one over the age of 16 would actually like (or anyone with post HS degree).
But whatever helps you sleep at night kid.04-14-09 02:57 PMLike 0 -
On the bright side, even though he has a "non street legal" FWD beast which would lead me to believe that he'd suffer from torque steer, then I remember he has an H22. Lawn mowers make more torque than those so he doesn't have to worry about any torque steer.04-14-09 03:03 PMLike 0 - lol, back on topic. OP, you have serious issues if you're booting up with only 20MB of free memory. Look, in the FAQ/Help Storm forum for such things like deleting preloaded picture cod file to free up about 5MB of memory. There's no way you can be that low on memory and not have a bunch of stuff loaded on the phone. On average with the latest leaked software (.113 - full version) you should be in the 4xMB range with some apps loaded. With the phone cleaned up without VZNav or VVM with a few apps, you should boot up in the low 5xMB range or high 4xMB range.04-14-09 03:07 PMLike 0
- i have this same problem. someone asks to see my phone and it's completely frozen. I WISH my phone was a lemon but tons of people are having this same problem. I love the features and the apps but it just seems like the curve is a way better phone.
oh and another thing does anyone have dust UNDER their screen? verizon says they can't fix this unless i take it 35 miles to the nearest technician so they can open it up.04-14-09 03:09 PMLike 0 - lol, back on topic.
