I got my new 8900 a few days ago and am loving it except for the GPS.
From indoors at my house or at work, using Google Maps, the GPS can't seem to pick up a signal. I'll hit "My Location" and it'll get close (using cell tower triangulation I guess), but says keeps "waiting for GPS".
So I go to Settings > Advanced Options > GPS and I'll refresh it, and it will sometims give me my coordinates, but after taking a minute or two.
When I go outside, I can usually get G Maps to zero in on my location within a few meters, as it should, but even then it's slow.
This all seems strange to me because my Curve 8310 was much more responsive and quick with the GPS.
I've restarted, reinstalled Google Maps, played with the GPS settings, but nothing helps.
I'm curious if anyone else is noticing this with their 8900 GPS. Maybe it's just a bum phone, but my 8310's GPS was definitely quicker.
Can anyone else comment on this? I just got mine the other day too and the GPS doesn't even work. It's never found my location and when i go into settings it can't even get my coordinates. This very frustrating because this phone wasn't cheap and my ipod touch picks up my current location in seconds.
Have you guys tried to do a battery pull? And what os are you guys running because I'm on .174 beta and the loading is slow but when I had the stock .114, it was faster...

My gps works very well with telnav and Amaze, I just checked it blackberry maps and when I selected start gps navigation, iy zeroed right in on my location, took probably 15 seconds. I'm running .174, but it worked pretty well with .114 too.

well it doesnt load at all i come up with all zeros, lat 0 long 0 i know it works but its just with that and bbmaps google and gps works but those 2 dont i guess i shall attempt downgrade =(
I've got .168 and it usually takes 2-3 minutes before it finds my locations. Would love to know why some people can get located in seconds while others take minutes. I've tried both indoors and outdoors with the same results.
I just upgraded to .199 and went for a drive to check the AT&T Navigator. First did a GPS refresh and noticed that it pulled in 6 satellites within 10 seconds. I'd say this OS is the best so far for me with GPS.
