    Hi,

I just upgraded to .133 and have been asking around which OS would offer me the most stable system with best batter life. It has come down to two that seem to be unanimous.

The .133 and and new .174. My phone came with .114 and the batter would go down a notch within 6 hours of unplugging. I need battery life. I do about 1 hour of talking on the phone and about 30 text messages a day, not including the ones I receive.

In addition to battery life, What bugs have you found in each of the OS versions?

    THanks!

I went right to 174 and have had 0 problems, with connecting, battery, anything. It works perfect for me, and I think that'd be reason enough.

You don't want to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. I don't know about you guys, but I get nervous when I'm installing a new OS.

If you are happy with the .133, then stick with it. Also, .174 is still in Beta, not sure if your warranty will cover your phone if you install a beta OS.

Thats my point.. I dont want to upgrade just cause its the latest version.. Thats not my style. i wanna upgrade cause theres reason to upgrade. Thats why I was asking if anyone has compared battery life (or other features) between the .133 and the .174.

I have already upgraded, but I have to admit it'd be interesting to hear about the differences. I upgrade mostly because I'm addicted to updating.

That having been said, I can't really pinpoint any differences between the two. Though I haven't had any trouble with it, either.

Battery is far improved for general use and phone use on .174.

    I find it's MUCH faster.

Very stable (no crashes for me)

Just try it, os installs are honestly a piece of cake. If you don't like it, switch back

Ahh dang.. I hate hearing that. I just upgraded from the .133 to the .174 today. So far the battery seems to be hangin in there for me. I hope it lasts forever! I havent noticed any bugs yet either. But the .133 was a solid build.

174 has great battery life. The only problem I have with it is the ringtone loudness meaning that low sounds a bit louded and so forth. But friends tell me its just me so idk lol.

Only thing I see is leaking memory on 174. Using same apps as 133 but memory will dip to 90 and never got below 120 with 133.... But battery is bettery so I just pull batt every 3 days and I'm golden.

.133 sucked for me id kill the battery playing music for 5 hours and some calls. .174 i use for 5 hours and phone calls down to 30ish maybe if im lucky 40ish. but i might want to try .133 if you guys got 5 days! maybe it was just a bad install for me. .174 is much faster though.

oh yeah my memory is going down too .133 was stable at 120s now i jump from 129 all the way down to 104 is the lowest ive seen

Are you sure you dont have memory leaks from a 3rd party ap? Try a battery pull and see if your memory is better.

same here - memory starts at 132 or so and goes down to abt 121 in half a day with no 3rd party apps running!! [but a lot of email traffic though]

.133 was the most stable on memory, battery and well almost everything [still the official update in RIM isnt it and hence they shdve done thorugh testing before release]

battery life is comparable - but i think .133 may score a notch over .174 - no significant diff though [.168 sucked the batt [dint try .152]]

overall , in my opinion, .174 is the closest to .133 and hence may be the next official release in whatever form of way [and by the way, none of these fixed the text wrap ]

Hey I had the 4.6.1.114 os yesterday. Thats the os that came with my blackberry. I hated it. Battery drained fast after 20 text messages and a couple phone calls. I updated to the .133 then to the .174. Both the .133 and .174 have outstanding battery life compared to the .114. I would totally recommend updating it for just that reason alone. I hear the .133 is a very solid build but the .174 has decent reviews. Im not too sure what memory leak has to do with cell performance but the .174 is known to have that..

To install an OS you have to download the .exe file. Desktop Manager wont find you the update. Those are easily found here on the forums. It takes no more than 5 minutes.
