I went on craigslist to and typed in bb 8900 and noticed two ads one selling for $250 and the other one for $300. I e-mailed them and both gave me the same response. They are going to credit my t-mobile account with the amount to purchase the phone. Then I will pay him the amount listed in the ad. Is this a scam? The phone is about 500 maybe more from t-mobile and I'm only paying $300? Has this happened to anyone? What do u guys think?

They're going to "credit" your T-Mo account and you're going to turn around and hand them cash. This is what you're saying right?

Seems like a scam, they could be crediting your acct with CCs/whatever that aren't legit. You might see the credit pending and they could cancel it before it completely processes, seeing as how credit transfers require 2-5 business days. Anyway, you're comfortable giving a person on CL your T-Mo account number?

Personally it sounds a bit sketchy, and if it were my choice I would avoid it. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Again, this is just my opinion, take it how you want. Hopefully someone here knows the finer details of internet scamming and can shed more light on this.

    Good luck!

I hope I've scared you out of purchasing the phone off of CL, haha. I, also, agree with the person below me, buy direct.

If you want an 8900, call t-mobile and ask for their best deal. You get prorated discounts even if you are still in your contract term. And their full price is only $500, with a $100 rebate being offered right now, so the 8900 is definitely not "more" than $500. If you're in the last few months of a contract, ask for a retention specialist or tell them you want to cancel your account, and you can get a better deal on the phone.

Don't do it!!! There is another thread where someone almost fell for it. It is 100% a scam.

Edit to add: You could always scam bait them and string them along for fun! Don't call them or let them find out your cell# though.

OMG!! This is such a scam!!! Who are these people that are going to "magically" credit your T-Mobile account. You're not paying for phone service, just a phone. I would meet with them and do bodily harm to these twits. How dumb do they think people are??

hey guys. I bought a new bb 8900 on ebay for 300 dollars. the seller gave me the tracking info and everything but wen i checked the tracking, it says they havent recieved any info on the item. and the phone should be here in 2-3 days. today is the third day... should i be worried that i got scammed. I'm also afraid that the guy sold me a defective one. he said its new and in the box but i dunno...it was sold for a pretty cheap price...
