I used to be a cell phone tech for 5 years, now back in the good old days of the early 2000's we didn't have anything as fancy as the storm but can someone explain to me WTF its doing when its rebooting for 10 min????

Did older blackberries do this? I'm not talking about application or firmware upgrades, just a reboot from a battery pull because I dared to watch a video.

In general BBs do take a fair amount of time to boot, i'd say 3-5 minutes in general. not sure if you're just exagerating. I can be affected though by how much stuff you have on your phone

I've never seen any piece of electronic equipment take this long to reboot. I watched half of a period of hockey waiting for an installation of new software to run its course. This is ridiculuous!

They take forever for some reason. My 8703e took awhile, not sure how long maybe 3 minutes or so, the Storm takes forever though at least 5 minutes. When I had a leaked OS on it it took twice as long. It's brutal though went to a friends Saturday night and got out of the car and remembered I left my flat iron on at home. I go to bb message my roomie and my phone is frozen, won't respond at all. I pull the battery, put it back in, locked the car, walked all the way to his place, buzzed him, went in, waited for the elevator, went all the way up to the 16th floor took off my shoes jacket, went to the washroom and THEN the phone finally finished rebooting!

Hooray? Seriously it's generally not too big of a deal. You could try to upgrade to a beta if you're comfortable with it; they seem to boot a tad faster, but remember:

    1) New OS, gonna be some kinks and not as optimized

    2) It's common with Blackberry's... if you want something that reboots fast, go get a WinMo device, or go back to a "dumb phone"

I'm using .103. It doesn't seem any faster or slower than .75. I had a Treo that would reboot in under 5 minutes. So I guess I was spoiled. Technology advances? lol

How much stuff do you have loaded on your phone? how much app memory do you boot with? Large databases? (ie contacts, messages, emails, etc)

I had .90 I think it was on mine it took twice as long as .76. We fully realize that it's more than just a phone but we're comparing it to other smart phones. When my friends see mine reboot they're stunned at how long it takes compared to their iphone or palm's.

My phone took 3 minutes and 49 seconds to restart my storm with quickpull on .99 I'm hoping 10 minutes is an exageration. If not, I feel very bad for you.

No, its not an exaggeration. I was at the gym last night and couldn't get me Nike+ sensor to connect to my IPOD so I went online to download the manual, which locked the phone up so I did a battery pull.

I did it a minute before I got onto the bike and at about 12 minutes it got to the main screen.

I understand it's more than a phone but is a phone, it should boot to the phone quickly at a minimum and load the rest in turn. IMO

I just timed my reboot using QuickPull: 5 minutes and 20 seconds. Not too bad!

The Battery Pull took: 3 minutes and 22 seconds. I'd have to say QuickPull isn't very quick after all.

3-5 minutes here. The only time it's been annoying was when I was on a call and had to reboot, then had to wait 5 minutes to get back in touch.

I just jumped from .90 to .109. The reboot time is significantly longer. It seems to hang up around the 65% mark. I thought the times were supposed to get shorter with OS updates, lol.

Edit... I've done this a couple of times already. But it seems to complete the load quicker after I click the screen whenever it hangs up on the reboot.

Mine took 7 minutes 14 seconds this morning. I went and deleted a metric **** ton of old emails/sms and rebooted. 4 minutes 43 seconds. Maybe there was just too much baggage on the OP's phone?
