So, I am a newb poster but avid reader on these forums. Since I am as excited as everyone else for the possibility for a new OS, I thought I would share my findings...

I went to RIM's site for the blackberry storm software downloads on IE7 (have to use IE7, RIM doesn't support Firefox for doing this...here is the link:
    hxxp://worldwide.blackberry.com/update/blackberrystorm.jsp )

and allowed the Active X control to run, which brings up the application loader from DM, and here is what I see after it finishes scanning my device (please see attached pic now)

...soo, needless to say, I have a couple of questions...
    1) Can anyone confirm this?
    2) If so, when I run the update...nothing changes, no OS 4.7.0.140
    3) If 4.7.0.140 is out there...is DM confused and telling me I have to go back to .75 (please God, dont make me!) in order to get .140?
3a) Can someone with .75 please try doing the steps I listed above and report back their findings?

Thanks guys and gals, hopefully this means the dawn of a new age is coming...

That's .99 not .140. Look at the number to the right: 4.7.0.99. That's the OS number.

ok, i see that bigman, but then why does the DM call it 4.7.0.140 tho? wouldnt it call it 4.7.0.099? or am I just completely lost here?

Check the details of your current OS --> Options, About

looks like you installed .99. at least in your DM if not on your phone.

and its .99 not .099, its only suggesting .75 because that is the latest official OS.

ok, gotcha, i didnt check the about screen carefully enough, the only number i ever looked at was the one for the OS version (4.7.0.99), i didnt realize RIM "names" their OS differently then the OS number actually is...thanks...hopefully our wait will indeed be over soon...

just so you are aware, its not named differently...
    the os is 99
    the platform is 140

if you look at the about screen in your phone, since it is the current OS installed,
you will see the two labels with the appropriate labels
