Hello I picked up my storm a few days ago and was wondering where I can get the newest updates for the OS.
Right now it has v.4.7.0.75 installed (platform 4.0.0.94)
I was also wondering what all of you considered the "essential" apps for the storm.
Right now I am running weatherbug, google maps, and opera mini (do you guys like opera mini?) I was also wanting to get a battery pull program. Sometimes my storm laggs up so bad I end up waiting 2:30 for the accelerometer to kick in and I just pull the battery.
Other than the lag I love this phone. Would appreciate any solutions to my question as well, thanks.
As for the OS, at the very top of the Storm 9500/9530 forums is a thread for OS/OS Beta. You'll find links to OS updates as well as very useful discussion threads about the various releases.
My personal experience is that Quickpull reboots the phone. I can't imagine the possibility of being able to reboot "better", so I never tried Soft Reset.
is there more than one version of quick pull? because the one i had it was always hard to hit the restart button it always hit the button under the one my finger was on.
Welcome to life with a Storm. It is a good life. As per your original question, your current OS is the latest official release from Verizon. The other posts give you links to more recent leaked versions of the OS (but these are not official releases). There are lots of arguments about whether to upgrade or not upgrade to a leaked OS and I'm not about to jump into the fray; to each their own. Some of my most used apps are listed in my signature block. Good luck!

I had this problem too, but then I went into Setup > Options > Advanced Options > Applications, highlighted Quick Pull, hit the menu key and selected disable compatibility mode. Now it works great. This can help with any other apps that are not optimized for the Storm and don't seem to work well with the touch screen.
