This past Friday I finally got my 8900 order placed. My question now is when should I activate the Data plan. On the phone the reps told me that I should do so after I get the phone and then it'll take an additional 48 hours to begin working. So does this mean that even after I get my phone I've got to wait another two days before I can really use it? I was wondering if I could just follow it on UPS and activate the Blackberry plan two days before I get the phone, that way out of the box it's fully operational. Any advice would be great!

I ordered my bb online from sprint. When I activated over the phone my data plan just started to work. I took about 30min to 1 hours for all the data apps to start working but 48hrs, that's just brutal. I would just activate it now so when you do get you bb you are ready to go.

I activated the data plan about a day before I got the BB. After registering the new BB, everything worked fine.

If you know the PIN then you can probably add the service and activate it at any time. But I think you can just add the BIS at any time and then put in your PIN on the BIS website once the phone comes in.

You can add the data plan from your my tmo account online. It took about 4 hours for everything to get up and running when I did it this way.

I'm with Tmo and they always say 48 hours but it takes hours. Just order it at the end of the day and by the morning u will have access to all the features.

Reading everything here I think the morning of the day I'm set to get my phone (or maybe the night before) I'll go ahead and switch the blackberry plan on.

Every time i have taken off or put on the BB plan, it is active within a couple hours, if not right away....this is on US T-Mobile. If you call, its faster, as they will register your pin on your sim card...

They tell you up to 48 hrs but it never really takes that long. Just add it the day you get the phone or now if you want

Mine was up and running in about 7-10 minutes after I added the plan.

It literally works within 20 minutes. They have to inform customers that there may be a provisioning time.

Very glad to hear this, I hated the idea of getting a new toy and then finding out I'd have to wait 48 hours before getting to play with it.
