Anyone else getting a lag when typing with the suretype keyboard?
i.e. typing text messages
I noticed there was really no lag with .76 and then it was getting worse with .90 and now its WAY worse with .99
my app memory is like 51.2mb so thats no excuse

Yep, I noticed this too. I was flying when i was typing text messages in SureType on .90, it was quick to respond. But .99 is really slow. Extremely annoying like you said.

EDIT: .90 was slow for you? I thought it was pretty much instant to respond if you ask me. I was bangin out texts left and right in .90 I looked like a pro.

I have actually noticed the opposite, much faster than .90. What font are you using, I have a feeling font affects the typing lag. Just a speculation!

I only notice it when typing in the browser. But it is awful.

I noticed a lag when I first uploaded but now its faster than it's ever been.

.99 installed over .75

Yes, I notice the lag too. Also it seems, that when you type, the phone keeps up with you, but the blue highlight is way behind....

do you think the font has anything to do with it?
Im using just the standard font that the phone booted with after the install of .99
yeah .90 wasnt that fast for me typing wise either, i went from .76 which was perfect other than the slowness of the switching from landscape to potrait and the terrible camera.

i hated texting and emailing on .90... .99 seems amazing to me...

really strange how it's different on everyone's phones as noted by other people in the past

Mine was really slow until I did a battery pull and then I noticed it got a lot better.

This lag is absolutely driving me crazy. I'm tempted to downgrade down to .90. Does anybody know anyway to make it quicker?

.99 is super slow for typing

and it has the smaller font on the buttons

yeah i .99 can go down the drain like the rest of the beta os's
I went back to .76...might not be as fast but at least i can text fast without there being a dam lag which annoyed the **** out of me...im a big texter and just couldnt take it anymore after trying everything i thought possible
1.like wiping the os then reloading it
2. removing ALL apps
3. Did about 5 battery pulls
ALl but no prevail, its pretty sad that is the most up to date OS that RIM can come up with...
this is just getting annoying already

Yeah same here, I would rather have a crashing OS, it's harder to type when the stupid thing doesnt keep up.

I think this is related to spell-checking as you are typing. If typing were simply a matter of lighting up the keys you are pressing, and drawing the characters in the window, there would never be any lag.

.90 was the fastest in terms of typing.. .99 I lost this.

i really dont think spellcheck has anything to do with it mainly cause with .76 its really fast and spellchack works perfectly and comes up instantly..basically no lag when typing texts and emails(typing in the browser is another story)
I just dont see how they can think the lag is acceptable....
Also when i went back to .76 i realized the switching from portrait to landscape was about the same quickness as .99 which shows that it defiantly aint getting any faster.

I dont get it. This isnt new. Has been there since the start throughout every leak. I guess the phone just isnt powerful enough? Stupid move on equipping it with a slow processor.

Edit: This post is only relevant if you were reffering to the blue lights not keeping up...if not my bad!

I always noticed that the typing inside of the browser was always slower than the SMS or MMS messages. I don't even care about the highlight because I know the phone will respond as I type...just be confident in what you are typing and you can be a rocket regardless or whether or not the phone can keep up...you are too fast for the phone

No doubt that there is lag typing now. It is not just the highlight lagging, it visually takes longer for the screen to display what is being typed. This makes it tough as you can be wayyyy ahead of what the screen is displaying.

I've noticed the texting slowdown, but hey they made a number of other improvements and in the process just made some mistakes in their previously much better code for the suretype keyboard.

look at key rate settings in phone, after loading 99 for what ever reason key rate is set on slowest setting.. not where I had it

I just downgraded to .90, the delayed typing was slowing me down horribly and causing me to make way too many mistakes.
