    Hey Crackberry.
    So.
    I just got my flipberry.
And I have weird things where my signal is supposed to be.
Sometimes it says UMA, or GPRS, or EDGE, and sometimes theres a little line with radio waves coming off it (which is most common).

Does this mean I'm not getting signal until I get my bars?

Those are just your signal types. EDGE (all caps) is the best type to have because you can have data and talk and it's the strongest signal, but it's fine if it switches. You might need to get to an area with better coverage. It's when your 8220 says SOS that you can't do anything at all (except emergency calls).

The line with radio waves coming off it is when it's on WiFi; then it should also say UMA which means you have WiFi calling available. The rest are different types of mobile network signals. The manual will explain the difference between upper and lowercase EDGE, edge, UMA, GSM, etc. The phone will seek out the strongest signal, so the signal type indicator will change.

If you're in your house and it keeps changing from UMA to EDGE, you might need to move your router or get a supersize antenna for it.
