The 8900 will be my first BlackBerry. Im switching over from an original iPhone. (I love the iPhone but the battery is beginning to crap out after about a year and a half of use. Because I unlocked the phone for use on TMo, its no longer under warranty and it would cost like a hundred bucks to get a new battery. Its also a pain in the a** when I have to do a firmware update as my phone generally bricks for a couple days until i figure out how to fix it)
How about you guys? Will this be your first BB? What are you switching from and why?
Yup yup, the 8900 will be my first BB. Or the "Magnum". Which ever comes out for AT&T first I definitely cannot WAIT to get my hands on one!! Im stuck with a "dumb" phone and I need a "Smart" phone (Walkman Slider)
This is my 1st bb and I am loving it. I have always used Nokia but found their smart phones to be a bit of a let down with constant crashes and other annoying things.
I'm with smijes on this one, the 8900 is going to be my first berry. I've wanted a BB for quite some time. I'm really excited for it to come out, i'm going from a Shadow to the 8900. When we get our BBs smijes we will have to exchange PINs.
I upgraded from a Nokia N95 and have been using Symbian Nokia's for years and years.
I've wanted a Blackberry for a while and came close to buying the Bold until I seen the size of it. I was then tempted to pick up a 8310/8320 until I seen that the 8900 was due out in the UK in December so decided to wait.
I'm not too impressed with the latest Nokia's so jumping ship to Blackberry came at the right time and I am so glad I did. I've had my 8900 for about 3 weeks now and I'm left wondering how on earth did I manage so long without a Blackberry?!

First BB (had a Curve 8320 for about a week like 6months ago but that doesn't count!). Coming from an iPhone that was stolen from me, I was looking for a new phone to buy and saw this one by mistake and fell in love with its sleek design.. then with its features and.. well, here I am, waiting for its arrival
Started looking at a BB late last year, and saw the 8900 was going to T-Mobile... after much reading of the BB 101 lessons, reading threads... I just had to make this my first BB... dropping PDA and old cell... got my 8900 last Friday... VERY HAPPY!!!
Smijes, I have used lots of phones extensively like the Iphone (which is a nice gadget with a terrible keyboard) to the Nokia range like N95 etc. I have even spent a bit of time with a G1.
However, the curve is in my view the get-it-done device in that with the keyboard and functionality of the device you can just do things quickly and efficiently.
I have found myself integrating different things from the device into my life and would sorely miss it now.
My 8900 arrived yesterday and it is my first Blackberry. I've had smartphones in the past and I also own a jailbroken iPod Touch. I toyed with the idea of the iPhone but luckily spending some time with the Touch has saved me from an 18 month contract with something that doesn't even come close to meeting my needs. I was also looking at the Bold before I discovered the 8900 but I know I have made the right choice with my little beauty. I am a very happy BB owner now and after reading these forums for a couple of weeks prior to getting it, I can now really see what all the fuss is about. The 8900 is a truly awesome bit of kit.
This is my first BB. ( I am a BB virgin) So I guess you can say when I get it I will be playing with it all night long. This phone is going to be great cause I have to work Midnights next week and it will help pass the time learning how to use and abuse it properly.
As for my past I have come from a WM5 & WM6 family. Dont get me wrong I like the WM software BUT it gets old after a while when you have to wipe the device so that it runs better and having to redo everything. Lag was a BIG issue with the WM phone.
Got mine on a contract from T-mobile. You can also go to Carphone Warehouse, or buy sim free from expansys.com.
We'll i ordered it about 2 hours ago, managed to get a cracking deal from Orange.. 25 a month for 12 months contract including free phone, but an addional contract, and im a current long time customer, So it should be here tomorrow.
and i keep playing with the 8900 constantly at work all day, lol about time i got my own.. :P
The way things are looking by all the posts on this site...... I think BB will be taking over the world soon.... Does anyone know if Pinky and The Brain have BB's?
