I currently have AT&T and am switching over to T-Mo for the 8900 (plus UMA, Cheaper service, and better customer service).

Some current T-Mobile customers have been able to upgrade to the 8900 already. Is there anyway for me to get one before 2/11/09 being that I am not already a customer or am I out of luck?

    Thanks -

As far as I've been told and have researched on my own, New Customers do not meet the eligibility requirement(s) to purchase the 8900. Unfortunately you'll probably have to wait until the 11th, however the exact method the computer uses to determine eligibility has yet to be determined. Only way to find out is to call Customer Care...a lot.

new customers get one before those of us that have been paying a t mobile bill for years?? I will be really ticked off if this is true. I have contacted tmobile about getting the 8900 and was told that they cannot give me any information about release date or when I can order one. Anyone else have reliable info on when current tmobile customers can get the 8900?

Just keep calling 611...I ordered my 8900 on Thursday of last week, paid for 3 day shipping, and received it the veryt next day at 10am.
So just keep calling for an upgrade, and when they ask you what phone you have picked, just tell them the 8900...don't ask, just tell.

The 8900 is currently only available for Business customers prior to the 2/11/09 release for regular customers.

Keep calling. It's available. As I've stated in many threads, it's based on account eligibility; it's just that those requirements are not made public. Keep trying.

No, that's not true. I'm not a business customer and mine is being delivered tomorrow. It's available for both business customers and eligible non-business customers. Trust me.

For those that have been LUCKY enough to get a rep that isn't following policy or has no clue the phone is only available for upgrade to business customers prior to 2/11 , then you are lucky. Notice how many some of you've had to call back multiple times to finally find a rep that isn't aware of the time line for the 8900.

You are/were one of the LUCKY ones to get a rep that didn't know the difference or paid attention to the time line.

Congrats on getting the 8900 early! Enjoy!

I have been a T-Mobile customer for one year. I have had horrible customer service so far during my contract. I was considering switching to Verizon (not just threats but seriously going to switch) for the Storm. I called T-Mobile to inquire about the payment plan on the 8900 and was told that I qualified. I decided to think about it over the weekend and called back today. They told me that I wasn't able to do it because I was flexpay, which is a sore subject because I was suckered into the flexpay accout. To make a long story short I spoke with three different csr reps until I got to KIM. She offered me a full discount on the 8900 and the option to pay over two billing cycles. She sent my phone out today and waived the 19.99 express shipping fee.

KIM has renewed my faith in T-Mobile. Way to go KIM you deserve a raise.

Lots of people are posting and only saying "I just called and ordered an 8900." Are any of you new customers or are you existing customers upgrading?

I am confused since this is a thread about new T-mobile customers and their (in)ability to order an 8900 with a new contract, but almost everyone posting here is talking about upgrading their existing phone/plan..

IF you are an existing non-business customer who got lucky and is upgrading to the 8900 before 2/11, how much did you have to pay?

i am paying 399.00 with 1 yr contract and then an additional 100.00 rebate so 299.00. 2 yr is only 50.00 less, but for 50.00 now you can upgrade again in one year!
