Have you been able to test it? If it works, that is gonna s*ck for Sprint... If it would have required nothing more that to drop a service book. I really hope it's far more technical than that.

I find this hard to believe, since the OS release doesn't have anything to do with MMS

Currently there is 2 Beta versions of 4.5 for Sprint floating around. One of them is non MMS 4.5 and the other includes MMS. I've seen the non MMS version float around here on crackberry.com but as far as the 4.5 MMS version I had to pull some teeth with Sprint and Blackberry product development just to be able to test it. From what I'm hearing 4.5 w/MMS is due sometime before the end of January.
