I'm giving serious consideration to paying the ETF and getting out of my contract (which I believe ends this coming August). I checked my online account w/ AT&T and used maybe 10 minutes of calling time...not including the insane amount of roll over minutes I have.

As you can tell I'm not a very heavy phone user.

Anyways, if and when I pay the ETF, and goto a pre paid cellplan, can I port my # over?

    The cell phone I'm looking @ is a Samsung A737 (which is only available online)....or I might get a Net10 LG600g.

If I order the samsung online....do I wait to have my excisting # ported over? Can this be done in store or do I have to call customer service?

    Thanks in advance.

or is it possible to keep the contract (or extend it...getting a new phone from AT&T...but a regular cell phone) and :

    1. keeping the phone #
    2. dropping all the bb stuff?

To keep your number, I think the 2nd option would be the best, extending your contract of course.

I'm not sure you can switch to to prepaid from postpaid... if so, they will definitely be an ETF.
