For install instruction to load any carrier 8300 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader if the OS is not from your carrier.
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

Finally this is available. I was using a Rogers version but i had a weird issue where my speaker would disconnect. Rolled back and it was fine. I hope my phone likes this official version.

Downloading now....
Good luck. You should be all set. But be sure to post back with any problems
or observations.
I did the update last night. Everything went fine and the phone registered itself on it's own.
All the emails that came in overnight were not in html. So i registered it again and waited for an email, non came, so my friend forwarded me one of hers but it's still not in html. Anybody have any suggestions?

Did you re-register the device or resend service books? If not, give that a shot.
So I installed the update last night, but after the install i had some weird china mobile icons that were red and white. No i didnt download the East Asia version either. So i went into the Shared folder for the OS and put the correct .cod file for china mobile in the Removed Modules folder. Fired up the AppLoader and it successfully removed it from the phone. However, after the update i cannot open the About portion of the options menu.
So after a couple days of getting agrivated with trying to update the OS on my 8300 I finaly got it done. My problem was I had Desktop Manger 4.7 Anytime id plug my phone in, it would allow me to do everything but it would never see the new os waiting to be installed. I removed 4.7 and put on 4.5 After install, I plugged my BB back in and poof It saw the update. The new OS install the option to use the Camera to record Video.. But I cant use it yet because you cant use it without haveing a memmory card in the phone. As far as the OS it like it, it seems alot nicer and i have no issues as of yet.
Exactly. I still have no idea why the two are tied together, but they are.
I'm wondering if maybe they're tied together because of the Voice Signal part of the About section. Maybe the voice activated dialing .cod's have something in there that corresponds with the Voice Signal info in the About section.
