For install instruction to load any carriers 95XX OS on your BB:

2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader (If your not on Orange UK)
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

- Crucial, here is a stupid question, I guess. You say in your directions that 'make sure the only OS installed to your computer is the one you want on your device'.
Well, I just installed .85 to the computer and now put it on my device. My question is this; when the next operating system, let's say .95 comes out, do I just install .95 to the computer and go from there, or do i somehow have to 'uninstall' OS .85 from the computer first. And if so, how do I uninstall?Last edited by Baseball24; 12-29-08 at 12:20 AM.
12-28-08 11:09 PMLike 0 - if your comfortable with what your doing you can have multiple OS's installed and choose what one you want.
However, based on Crucials instructions, just go to Add/Remove Programs in Windows and you will see "BlackBerry Device Software 4.7 for 9530 Smartphone"
Uninstall that12-29-08 09:07 AMLike 0 - Crucial_XtremeRetired ModeratorI suggest only keeping one OS installed to your computer at a time; the one you have installed to your device. You can have others saved to the computer, just not installed. I have a folder in My Documents labeled BB OS, and keep them saved in there just in case. But when it comes time to upgrade againg, go to Control Panel on the computer>Add/Remove and uninstall the current device software. Then install the new and upgrade.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-29-08 01:20 PMLike 0 - hey all,
just thought id let you know i just got back from the Verizon store (not my normal store a different one) I was talking to one of the managers about the storm because he owns it also. He told me that he had word of the next update coming on the 15th of january. Now i know most of the verizon employees will say anything to make you believe what theyre telling you is true. However i tend to believe this guy for two reasons:
1.) he is an owner of the storm and has had similar issues as all the rest of us
2.) he was actually very knowledgeable not like most of the idiots that work there01-03-09 04:26 PMLike 0 - agreed. i think many folks will be returning it, and if they really liked it, buying it back a week later to renew their 30 days. But lets keep this post on topic, make another thread and send me the link ill come in and discuss hehe01-03-09 05:26 PMLike 0

Yes it is still a bit quirky (Leaked .85) but I can see the Storm only getting better. As I read in a thread somewehere today, the Storm's hardware is miles ahead of the OS so I am willing to wait for a better OS.

First back up the device--> Plug in device>Open DM>Backup/Restore>Backup.
The download the OS from the link above. After it downloads, double click the icon and it will install to your computer.
The plug in device>Open DM> and you should be prompted to update.01-04-09 06:33 PMLike 0 - I keep getting an error message while trying to back up my device. The transfer gets to Smart Card Options and then stops and says "Error backing up database(s)." I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, as well as restarting the device. I just got this phone yesterday and have done almost nothing to it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.01-04-09 10:04 PMLike 0

- As far as the 15th of January rumor, I hope it is true, but direct from the Data Leader of Middle Tennessee, there is no release date as of yet.
I hope I am wrong.01-05-09 05:21 PMLike 0 - But the question is - will the eventual official release be identical to the currently leaked .85 or not? If it's the same that will be a huge disappointment for all concerned.01-06-09 08:24 PMLike 0
- I doubt it will be the same. It is leaked so WE can report the glitches so THEY (OS developers) can see where the problems are and give us an official release.01-06-09 09:49 PMLike 0
- Crucial_XtremeRetired ModeratorThere is no difference between the leaked version and the Official version. If they(carrier) do not like the build, then they wait on the next one. But again, there would be no difference between the leaked version of 85 and the Official version of 85, if 85 ever made it to Official. Probably will not.01-09-09 05:29 AMLike 0
- I have to say that I'm currently running .85....(because I just love fooling around with the latest OS.) But if you're looking for a stable version where everything works you should try the official .78.01-11-09 07:01 AMLike 0
