I live in Port Washington (Western Nassau County), so while I'm not the same UPS warehouse, I'm in the same delivery area so to speak. They told me they were going to send me a tracking number once mine shipped, so I sent them another e-mail asking them if they had shipped (playing dumb) and when I could expect a tracking number.

So it says 'out for delivery' but also says the scheduled delivery is 12/18..... so does that mean it might get here early?

If it's on the truck, it usually gets delivered on that day. They just add one day (maybe only in the holiday season) to be on the safe side and not get sued.

    From the UPS website:

What does it mean when my shipping status shows that my package is Out for Delivery?

The shipment has reached the local UPS facility responsible for delivering the shipment. The package has been dispatched to a UPS driver and will be delivered today. Packages other than those receiving premium air service may be delivered any time between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to residences and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window.

In my experience (lots of UPS deliveries, I hate B&M stores), "out for delivery" means you will get it today. I've only had one package that I can recall say "out for delivery" and then end up being delivered the next day (at some point late overnight the status switched to "delivery rescheduled" -- which means the driver just didn't get to me).

Typically, UPS Air deliveries will take the specified amount of time, but if they get there early it will be delivered, as has been said, providing it's on the truck, They don't change the scheduled delivery date until it's been delivered to protect themselves. UPS is good like that though, FedEx will often hold a package in its warehouse until the scheduled delivery date even if it gets there a couple of days earlier, which is really lame.

Oh, and it also looks like that package went on a Ground Vehicle, because I have seen Air deliveries going from Manhattan to Long Island get put on an airplane, go to another airport and come back to either Newark or JFK or LaGuardia, just because they Air services was set up differently in their system than Ground delivery. I'm not joking. It seemed stupid, which it was, but because Air packages have guaranteed delivery dates and are insured differently, they're routed separately then Ground packages. It's worse at FedEx because the Ground/Home Delivery used to be another company, RPS, where the routes were franchised (and they still are under the agreement that was signed when FedEx bought them), so it's even more separate. Gotta love the world of business.

Not always the case. I've had this happen to me a number of times. It's a 50/50 shot. Sometimes they will bring it back to the depot and bring it tomorrow.

Question, Im thinking yes, but does anyone think there will be any problems insuring these phones when we activate them?

i dont see why there would be problems insuring them. also, if you already have insurance on your current device it will carry over.

It must depend on our area, plus how good your UPS distribution center and UPS delivery person is, if you have people who don't care, they'll just deliver it the next day if it's not guaranteed for that day. 99% of the time if it says out for delivery, I'll get it that day
