My laptop crashed, and it's taken almost 2 days to get it back up. However, my Playbook was tethered to it, and now I can't access my gmail account on the tablet. It's telliing me that the imap.gmail.com has changed or is incorrect. Since gmail is my primary address, it's a real pain in the neck. Does anybody have a solution?

Maybe delete the account and then recreate it.

Logon via the web portable and make sure all is good... also have to make sure that only 1-Step authentication is enabled.

Don't forget to turn off two part authentication in GMail. The PlayBook can't handle that.

Thanks chaps, had lost Gmail from my PlayBook a few weeks back. But turning off two stage authentication has allowed me to reinstall. All good again

You should turn 2FA on again, and generate an App Password just for your PlayBook.

That's what app passwords are for. Instead of the actual account password plus a second factor over SMS/OTP/whatever, you generate a single use app password without any additional factors for implementations that are too old for 2FA, like the PlayBook.

App passwords are made through your email account settings, so on the Gmail/Outlook settings on their respective websites. As for setup, set it up like a normal email account, just using the app password instead of the real one.
