There is a way to side load it. I purchase a used BB 10 device that had it installed. I am no expert on how to install it. If you look in the android app section of CB I believe a gentleman that has a screen name of Cobalt is the android app guru

Even you managed to download and launch Google Map on Passport, its smoothness and fluidity cannot be compared with native app i.e. running in BB10 OS. Not to mention the heating issue that usually associated with running Android apps / games in BB10 OS environment plus the battery drainage occurrence.

You can try other native BB10 apps such as BeMaps Pro...

I downloaded it from Google Play to my Passport , and it works fine. I also have it on a Samsung device, and I see no difference.

Was in Tokyo lately and BBMaps did not have content for that city, was going to resort to Google Play store hack but thanks to this referral I now downloaded BeMaps, and it's on sale

Bemaps pro from BlackBerry world works awesome for me. Does all the things I need from Google maps. It's kind of cool how it utilizes the native BlackBerry maps for turn by turn. Really pleasant experience.

I tried the Google Map on my Passport and again, based on my personal experience, not only it is 'lagging' compare with the native BeMaps Pro, it also drain a lot of battery juice.

My location (ME) is probably one of the factor for its sluggishness but if you have both, you can compare their differences...
