New SIM from Vodafone, account shows Blackberry Services activate, handset not able to access BIS

Newly purchased Vodafone SIMs no longer support BIS, despite Vodafone still selling customers SIM deals with alleged BIS functionality.

I entered a new Vodafone contract earlier this year but received no BIS on my 9900, whereupon I spoke to myriad Vodafone support staff in an attempt to rectify the problem, one of whom eventually admitted that new Vodafone SIMs are now no longer BIS compatible.

Ofcom has received more complaints about Vodafone than any other UK mobile operator. Based on my experience alone after essentially being fraudulently mis-sold a product I can see why. I am now (happily) with O2.
