I'd like to upgrade to the Z30 from the Z10. Is is now possible to disable the auto brightness with the latest software release (Verizon)? I bought a Z30 last year but ended up returning it because this feature was not available.

Thanks for the replies. It makes no sense to me why they would intentionally cripple the phone like this. Oh well, will keep my Z10 until hopefully this feature will be available is a future update.

It's matter of personal preference the z10 screen is much brighter..for example you can load android brightness settings app on z30 you can see how bright z30 can be, but only working within the app

A lower brightness is easier to read with. But I do know what you mean. LCDs often have the brightness very high and you get used to it.

But ask yourself. Do you like reading more on ivory paper such as a high quality trade paperback/hardcover or white paper that has optical brighteners added to make the contrast as stark as possible?

It's not that much brighter, I really don't see the fuss; people say the z30 is hard to see outside yet I have mine on minimum 100% of the time and can see it fine

There was a notice in the latest update release notes about fixing a issue having to do with visibility in sunlight. I does seem to work better outside -- when I first got the phone I had a hard time seeing the screen in sunlight.

I just upgraded from a Z10 to a Z30 this past Saturday since they announced the Priv would be running Android, a big no thank you for me. I can tell you that the screen for me on the Z30 is much better, even though it doesn't have the brightness of the Z10. It has better color reproduction and the colors are way more vivid than the Z10. This phone is a beast and just loving it so far and built quality is incredible compare to cheap plastic feels of the Galaxy series.

Hey, I have both with the same OS, 2639. At the same settings, minimum: Z30 is brighter, maximum: Z10 is brighter. Default / middle (I use this): Z30 is brighter. Z30 display is more vivid than Z10. The Z30 is much better phone, Z10 is just a toy compare to it. Best phone I ever had
