I have a friend at VZW that checks on release dates on phones and there's nothing in the system yet. Normally phones will be added even 60 days before their release but nothing yet on the slider. This could mean the release is at the end of November at the very soonest. He has checked other blackberry phones such as the Z10, Z30 and the classic and they were all in the system well over a month (6 to 8 weeks) before the release dates.

That is silly, Chen said it would be this Fall so it can't be any later than December 21st and Chen not look bad.

Of course the Release Data and the it's in the stores date don't have to match. And I'm not sure what markets will get it first....

And Chen has enough experience with smartphone hardware to not look bad, right? Unless you have significant control of your supply chain like Apple and Samsung do, component shortages can always cause significant delays. The factories might be too busy making BB10 robot toys for the next few months.

I just asked an reseller jn germany today and he told me that he actually already received marketing info about the device and I should be "patient". It wouldn't be too far off.

What always drives me nuts about Blackberry and all of their device launches has been the super vague dates. "Prior to end of the year" "first quarter of year" "launching this summer"


In many cases the devices and services like BBM launched either late or on the very last day possible to "technically" be on time. Call me old fashion but launching a global product the very last day and in one or two countries isn't exactly a spot on launch.

If I recall correctly BBM was suppose to launch in the summer of 2013. It was launched in September I believe. When I think of summer, I don't think of middle of September. I think June, July, August.

Hopefully this Priv launch goes super strong. Would love for Blackberry to stick around the device business as long as possible.

I'm thinking it will get delayed.
-no release date ( coming this fall is pretty vag)
-no price
-No confirmation of specs
-no information of BlackBerry exclusive content on android (exclusive app or feature)
-no confirmation from carrier ( ex: leaks from a worker like someone stated somewhere)
- no demo of the device( John chen's demo doesn't count!)
-close to non existant marketing
- im missing a few

So pretty much a confirmation of the device existence, the name is confirmed in accordance with what was leaked( I actually don't mind the name, I kinda like it. Please don't burn my house)
A half *** banner that probably took like 5 min to do and updated to BlackBerry website about the priv( yes it's need ammendment and a lot of love, it's ugly quite frankly)

Thinking that if they [blackberry] where a bit serious about it[ priv], they would have done a proper introduction with the features, release date, exclusive content and most importantly, why they choose android after all that Bashing on them[android] about having security holes. Why it's better now, and how they have done a job that Google (with their incredible finance) wasn't able to do.

But then again in always wrong and they could come with something incredible in the next 2 weeks.

BTW sorry for bad English. It's doesn't help that a took a few drinks too.

BlackBerry should have 3 weeks of Television and Internet ads leading up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If they don't have that thing ready by then, they are screwed in the US.

They'll probably announce a May 2016 release like they did with the PlayBook and Z10. If they can't have it in stores by Thanksgiving they may as well forget it.

Somehow Apple picked the perfect month to release things and BlackBerry can't open an umbrella.
