    Hi guys and gals,
Sorry for the newbie question, but I just bought a Q5 as a backup BlackBerry and am in the process of setting it up.

Out of the box, it is running 10.1.04181.
I opened settings and choose Check for Software Update.

After downloading half of the file, I had to re-boot and now the device says that I need to delete 118mb from the device before it can continue.

The phone is new and I haven't loaded anything on it. Is the stock memory not sufficient to allow the update? I know there is a way to accomplish the update to 10.3 but I am at the end of my technological know how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi OP, use an auto loader or BlackBerry link. There isn't enough memory in a Q5 to perform an OTA, even fresh out of the box. I'm running 10.3.1.2744 and it is working great.

Plug it into a PC and run either a Autoloader or use BlackBerry Link to update

Agreed on autoloader recommendation. I wouldn't bother with OTA or Link; neither seem to play well with the Q5.

Since it's a new phone, you don't have a backup to worry about. Download the latest 10.3.2 autoloader, plug in phone, and run autoloader.

Forgive the super basic follow up question, but what is an "autoloader" and where would I download it from? Easy to figure out?

Go to the leaked OS section and read read read until you understand! Back up your phone first unless there is nothing on there worth saving. Its actually quite easy once you have the basic understanding! After reading it, you can ask for help if needed, someone is always here!

    Blackberry Passport running 10.3.2.2339

Do you happen to have any links that can point me in the right direction? I am researching this as much as possible from another cell phone (on the train). My search capabilities won't be fully operational until I return home.
    Thanks!

Get the Q10 autoloader; identical to the Q5 OS.

Thanks! It is a fantastic little device. So much lighter in the pocket than my Classic. It is much more fluid than I expected based on the specs and the keyboard reminds me of my old Curve...I am thrilled with it!

Very happy to hear you were able to update the Q5. (One of the few cases where a Link update was successful! )

Enjoy the Q5! It flies on 10.3.2. Definitely an overshadowed BB10 phone.

Link update always works well with low storage devices like Q5 or Z3 through reload option.

Best thing going forward, always update your device via BlackBerry Link. This will void the need for extra space and the update should be smooth
