According to one of their effin pricks' bold statement on twitter.

Says they do not support any other devices except the Classic and will not be issuing a 10.3 update on the rest.

Like I said in a previous thread, guess we're screwed.

If any T-Mobile subscribers want something done, we need to be proactive and get @JohnChen and @JohnLegere involved.

The few of us on twitter trying to highlight this concern to these CEOs need more help.

    Get involved.

It won't work. TMo wants to sell you their Classic, so it would be counter-productive to update the OS for the phones that they have EOLed. They did the same with their BBOS phones also... never rarely gave updates.

It would take about 30 minutes to update yourself - far less time than involving yourself in all this.

Edit: As mentioned below, the downside is that you will lose WiFi calling if you take matters into your own hands.

I've decided to perform the update through sachesi and the software is already on my PC.

It just annoys me at how passive they are about this.

Someone (perhaps a Californian) should tweet Des and ask him about compliance with the California "Kill Switch" law. By choosing to not release an update for the Z10 or Q10, TMO may not in compliance with the law.

Also, why did the mod move and hide this thread all the way here. It's more visible in the main forum where there is more traffic.

I would imagine because it affects T-Mobile users and not everyone.

Can't speak to the exact reason, but I for one requested the move. I felt it's more a TMO issue than an OS10, and TMO users first and foremost deserve to know this.

The law only affects smartphones that are manufactured after July 1, 2015. Older phones are not required to get the kill switch.

Damn, that's your interpretation too, huh? :\ The way the law was worded I was thinking it had to be any phone that could stand to be updated (i.e. hardware could take the update, the OEM had to have put out an update, etc.)

Phones introduced prior to Jan. 1st would not be required to be given an update. Phones introduced after Jan.1st would be expected to be updated if reasonable efforts to provide an update are possible.

Yeah, that makes sense. My interpretation was too optimistic, plus the fact that Verizon and AT&T released updates...

Oh well. The Uncarrier marches on, making Carrier moves.

Dumb question, but is WFC a bar file that can be installed onto any phone, or part of a radio file, or is it integrated into the core OS?

Integrated into the core OS, but there are two requirements for it to work:

    1) An approved phone (Q10 -5, Z10 -3 and Classic -4...hopefully)
    2) A whitelisted OS

If a TMO customer now updates Z10 or Q10 to 10.3.2 via autoloaders or something else, #2 will no longer be true and WFC breaks. TMO knows this, and I'm willing to bet Des Smith knows this too.

Someone should call them out and ask them to whitelist 10.3.2.something that BB's pushing to unbranded phones/autoloaders are readily available for.

Disappointing, yet not exactly surprising news given T-Mo's support of EOL devices. It'll be interesting to see if 10.3.2 works with WFC on the Q10 and Z10 if the Classic gets it as well.

Speaking of which, has anyone asked this cat when the Classic will see an update with WFC?
