You cannot downgrade from 10.3.2.500 onwards to 10.3.1.

Nope. Once you 10.3.2, you can't go back.

    Nope - you are stuck.

One of the reasons why I shall never upgrade to this version: loss of control of something I have purchased.

Have you tried doing a hard reset or security wipe? Or Reloading the OS using an autoloader?

Hold down both the volume up and down keys at the same time for ten seconds until the phone restarts and you see the BlackBerry logo.

Even if that reason gives you more protection for your device if it's stolen? Even if it closes vulnerabilities in the software?

The reason is that BlackBerry improved the phone's anti-theft security in 10.3.2. If they allowed the thief to downgrade your phone, it would completely defeat the purpose of the security enhancements. Like installing an extra secure deadbolted door on your house, & then leaving the window wide open.

You may not have a choice. Verizon is forcing everyone to update. It will automatically update in 48 hours no matter what. Even if you have updates turned off.

I was weighing the supposed benefits of this so called "feature". And I remained unconvinced. Moreover, some of the places I work and travel, I am fairly certain the criminal element will discover a way to break the feature. Also, if the criminal element are aware of the lock, they will simply stick an side arm in your face, or a machete and "politely" ask for you to unlock the phone. I am concerned about what happens when a person is unable to remember the code due to panic and fear . . . Of if the other side simple decides to act from spite.

Another reason why I am happy not to be a Verizon customer. All my BB's are unlocked and purchased outright. At the risk of jinxing everything, to date I have not been forced to upgrade. I continue to get the annoying update notices, both for the OS and the BBM, but no forced upgrade as of yet. Knock on wood.

They would have to find you after stealing the phone. This isn't a password on a lock screen. This is going to a website (BlackBerry Protect for us) and listing your device as stolen. At that point, even after a full wipe only your BBID password will allow the handset to be used.

Exactly. It's like the ability to call your credit card company after your card was stolen to be able to cancel it.
