why would you need one, when Blackberry scans each apk before it lets you install them and then tells you if it is known to have malware in it?

Dude, just forget about anti virus app, there's no need of it.. even I was an android user once upon a time.. but in BlackBerry, it's not necessary, your credit and debit cards or transactions will be secured.. don't worry.. enjoy BlackBerry 10..

Install password keeper or enpass.. here you can keep all your password safely using master password. Whatever your financial websites are, open through these apps.. or you can put your password also..

For demonstration purpose watch a youtube video...

No, since I bought it, I never had any virus.. but it's just an extra layer of protection. And it makes me feel good.

Its very unlikely that you will get a virus on your BB10 device, especially if you just get apps from Blackberry World as they are all scanned by Blackberry Guardian (made by Trend Micro) before being installed. The simple fact is that BB has such a small market share that most viruses are written for more popular platforms.

If you download Android apps you MAY be at a little higher risk (I'm not an expert) but if you get your Android apps from the Amazon App store then you are pretty safe as they have safeguards in place.

If you sideload apps from 'other' sites they may not be as secure. So this is where you are most vulnerable. Again, not being an expert, I can't tell you how likely you are to get a virus this way ( I believe its very small) but you could simply install a BB10 antivirus app or get an Android one from Amazon store.

Again, I think you risk is very, very low. But if it makes you sleep better then do it.
