Someone gave me this phone. As I look it over there does not appear to be a sim card slot. Does Sprint use a hard coded setup like Verizon? Any way around it?

If there's no SIM card slot, then this phone will only work on the Sprint network. At best, you may be able to get it to work on Boost or some of the other Sprint subsidiaries/MVNOs. But they most likely won't offer BIS.

It is a Nextel phone and will not work at all. Nextel network has been shutdown and repurposed over to band 26 LTE and band bc10 on Sprint.

The "i" in 8350i stood for iden from the former Nextel. It is now only good for a paperweight.

So would this phone have said "Sprint" on it? Or was it misrepresented to the OP as a Sprint phone? IIRC, this phone pre-dates the Nextel acquisition.

    It's probably this one. http://crackberry.com/sprint-launche...ry-curve-8350i

Sprint owned Nextel at the time, so technically it wasn't misrepresented. Sprint bought Nextel in 2005 and shut down the iDEN network in 2013. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nextel_Communications
