Android runtime supports only 2 cores!-crackberry-image.jpg
As some of u may know, android runtime in passport shows only 2 cores instead of 4,and every other bb10 device is a dual core.I AM NOT SAYING QUAD CORE IS NEEDED(pls don't start with iphone) but I think BlackBerry went with ancient dual cores in newest devices because of that, they could get any performance gains from Quad core so they went with dual. I wish upcoming BB10 updates will support multiple cores and bring lollipop update to the ancient 4.3.

makes reasonable sense, but i'm not really sure what any of it means so I will take your word for it.

Also interesting it's classified as "RIM Passport". Thought that name was long gone.

RIM is still used in many places, for example in BlackBerry desktop software files....I really wish they would upgrade to Android 5.0 bringing support to camera api and new in app designs and better performance (kitkat was optimized for better ram management and lollipop uses the new ART system though I really don't know how they used Java runtime(in 4.3))

Anything more really isn't necessary at this point. Some apps aren't even programed for multi-threading on android

Don't say there is a need, there is always a need.We don't need 315ppi+ display nut everyone opts for 440ppi+ displays just because they look better,in the same way more cores mean the system will take advantage even small advantage is better than nothing.....essentially BlackBerry is using old cpus because Cortex A9 is much more powerful than A7 and I think A53 is on par,so they went with A9 and Krait (Same league) for higher performance they went with Snapdragon 800 in passport, since they have only quad core options they had no choice but to disable 2 cores in runtime.,until the runtime is optimized we are going to be seeing the similar performance devices.
