I had a restart last week. Wasn't sure what happened. I was taking my phone out of my attache. My Z30 restarted?!

It happened about 30 minutes ago...
This time I was paying attention!

And I was able to replicate it 3 times in the past 30 minutes.

I touched the power button, to put my Z30 to sleep. I touched the power button a second time. Still OK.
When I touched it a 3rd time, the phone said it was shutting down. I pressed cancel, but it still reset.
This would easily happen if the phone was on your pocket, brief case etc, when the power button on top could inadvertently be pressed. It doesn't need to be held down for 3 seconds either.
FYI: Z30-STA100-5
10.3.1.1784 (not a leak).

Edit: I don't know if this is a hardware (the power button) issue or software. Hopefully it's software and Blackberry can fix!

ur power button gets stuck when u press it occasionally, so it cant b cancelled while its counting. it happens to me on a custom case of Z30. the top button gets stuck.

to check, remove back cover , then do that suitcase thing . most likely it wont shutdown as before.

I have an OE flip shell. I took the cover off and I wasn't able to get it to restart.
I put the original cover back on (no case). I couldn't get it to restart.

Obviously it is the OE flip shell. Thanks!!

I bought my phone in Feb of this year. I have (had) a Glyme case. Phone was fine. No restarts. Bought my daughter a Z30 when CB has them on sale. I gave her my Glyme case and I used the OE flip. At the same time, I updated the OS A day later had a restart. Coincidental.

It was tonight I was able to replicate the restart. Didn't even think it could be the case.

PS: I'm taking a nail file to my OE flip. Gonna make the power button cut out a little bigger.
I wonder how many other Z30's are restarting because of this?

I took the flip case off and compared it with the original back cover. (see pic).
The gasket covering the speaker on the original case is fabric , and on the flip shell, it's foam. It's thicker!
I can see where the foam would, ever so slightly, interfere with the power button.

EDIT : I took an exacto blade and trimmed the top piece of foam. No more restarts. All is well!

I posted about this in the passport thread by mistake, but yes this is definitely a bug. The phone was also rebooting when I would put in a headset so I thought it was also linked to the power button, making me think it's a hardware issue. I have been able to stop it by keeping the oem case on it, but if I take it out it's a nightmare.

I was worried it was my Z30, but now I know it isn't! It never was!

Stupid BlackBerry, stupid. First the double type on Q10 (discovered by forum member to be caused by keyboard assembly sloppiness) then this. Anyway thanks a lot 3xberry, I was thinking to purchase OEM flip, so you saved me a lot of trouble.

I'm not a fan of the flip, but it is slender. Doesn't add bulk.
If someone likes the flip, all they have to do is trim that top piece of foam.

I noticed that my power button would get stuck on one side sometimes... it got to the point where phone wouldn't even start and I would get a slow blinking Red LED with an intermittent blackberry on the screen... I initially thought the OS was corrupt and I needed to reinstall the OS therefore losing all my data... Checked power button , freed it up and it started... Just give it time to re initialization and it's good to go...
