I want to present my project that I made for my car(renault megane sedan) with my old blackberry playbook.
The tablet is fully integrated in car's dashboard.
    I use a dc-dc converter 13,4 to 12v to power the playbook.
I use neutron player for music because this have an option to play/pause the music when stereo jack is inserted or pulled out. I hooked up the playbook to find the contact that detects the stereo jack and with a relay connected to my car's audio system, now the music plays when the radio cd starts.
For navigation I use Magellan compass and osmand+
Also I bought a wi-fi obd adapter and torque app to see in real time vehicle parameters.

I can acces my playbook files thru my wi-fi home network to put on playbook music, videos and files. I can acces playbook memory by typing : fille://playbook from start search on my windows 7 pc.

Enjoy the movie that I posted on youtube

    PS.
As my daily driver I use blackberry q10 witch connects to the tablet via bridge and I can see the caller id, answer a call directly from playbook and speak thru my Sony Ericsson bluetooth system.
I can put my phone in the glow compartment.

You wouldn't happen to be in southern ontario and be willing to do some custom work. My Celica could sure use an upgrade

Very nice! I've been thinking of doing something like that. It definitely wouldn't look that nice.

Thank you all . It's not an expensive project. You need a playbook witch is cheap those days, a dc-dc converter, a couple of wires and some electronic basic knowledge.

This is awesome! It'd be cool if you could have a reverse camera linked up to this too!

Reverse camera is something I was going to work on for my version of the playbook dash. The app I was going to try is tinycam they published a list of camera options I'll see if one would work
My reason is cool factor and I hope to get an RV and that would be handy!

What audio switch are you talking about? I've always wanted to do this as well but the bt ODII i have are not great tried two. maybe I should just do this with a spare Z30. But I can see how a PB is nicer because of Bridge.

My Car is worse. It is an old car.
If he had a new one he would not need to do this at all and I am sure it would be cleaner.

No, is not possible with any app. It's a hardware mod. I use a 12 v quick charge port to charge my playbook. And since I use the 12 v plug, my micro usb is free. The micro usb is host capable but os 2.1 doesn't know usb host. The micro usb have 5 pins 1+, 2data +, 3data-, 4 usb switch(between client and host) and 5 ground. When pin 4 is put to the ground is supposed to make micro usb host but os 2.1 doesn't have usb host support but instead, when pin 4 is put on the ground it wakes up the device. So, with a ne555 ic and a simple diagram with a relay, the circuit produced pulses who are trasmited to relay witch periodical makes contact between pin 4 from microusb and the ground to keep the device screen alive.

I used a relay instead the led. When we use an relay, the circuit doesn't need r3. The relay is mounted between the pin 3 of the ne555 and the ground.
