I don't see any reason to buy leap. They haven't increased anything leaving the screen size.
Will anyone buy it over z10?
Than I would like to know what is the reason for buying.

Nope. And to be honest there is no good BlackBerry option to replace my z. I'm afraid I will be going to a different brand smartphone for the first time in nine years.

Nope. It's a phone with 2012 specs. And in my opinion not worth $275. I will see what the new slider specs are, and when it will be released. Otherwise, I'll probably move on to another platform to replace my Z10.

The Z10 is long out of production. Good luck with that remaining stock.

Z10 still good where available. But corporate target not going to invest in old stock?

We can still enjoy Z10, Z30 and hope BlackBerry can make some cash selling Z3, Leap to corporates?

No. The display on the Z10 is still sharper and will no doubt be brighter.
The Leap is an attractive device though.
    IMHO it's just a watered down Z30.
But for the money it's okay I guess.

bigger screen and longer battery life but not better screen... the battery life is the best reason to switch!

Only reason I'd switch is because of my terrible terrible battery. Tired of switching batteries every 5-6 hours or constantly looking to plug it in.

    Cheers

The only real reason would be the better battery life.
2800mAh vs. 1800mAh - might be a deal breaker for some.

But all the other stuff - not really.

I'd rather go for the Z30 - yeah I know it's EOL - but it also offers 2800mAh battery and an energy saving 5 inch OLED instead of LCD.
And the Z30 offers 1.7GHz instead of the Leap's 1.5GHz.

And I think even the cameras on the "old" devices are slightly better!
I own a Z10 and a Classic - even though both cameras say almost the same on the spec. sheet - the Z10 does a better job!
The AF works better for close ups and the video camera offers 4 DOF (Degrees of freedom) - on the Classic "only" 2 DOF.
In artificial light the Classic tends to a "yellowish" white balance.

And I think it will be the same with the Leap - both (Leap & Classic) come out of Foxcon.

Yeah but u just need to get an extended battery for the Z10. That will settle all the battery issues. Plus it's a cheaper investment rather than paying for a new phone

A little bump in specs from the Z10 and a much better battery would have been the angle I took. However, I'm only the armchair CEO.

No reason for buy. Leap is another failure waiting to happen. $275!? If they simply stretched the screen and minimize the bezels (keep the device footprint the same) and a bigger battery with 2015 specs. Then that might be a winner.

I will consider the Leap. I've used a z10 (unfortunately lost it) and now, a Z3. I love the form factor of the Z3 and loved the specs of Z10. The Leap fuses both and with that price, I might just take the Leap. But if I had better financial support, I will still go for the Passport. And eventually get the Leap after getting some more extra resource.

I guess I don't understand all the fuss about specs. I never have felt my Z10 was slow, inadequate, etc. I frequently have 4+ tiles open at the same time while working my hub and the Z10 doesn't miss a beat and is over 2 years old. I think BB10 is a very efficient OS that does not require a lot of processor, RAM, etc. Not sure I would buy the Leap, but a bigger screen and better battery relative to the Z10 has appeal to some I suppose. The Z30 screen was garbage IMHO. I liked the Z10 screen much better despite being smaller.

It's great for the BlackBerry newbies. However, I think I'll hold off until Mr. Chen and BlackBerry releases something with some more BlackBerry style muscle. I like what he's doing and I really support his direction.

    Z10 (STL 100-3) still on 10.2.1.3337
