I just downloaded 5.0.0.1049. Worked fine. How do I reactivate my Bold 9000 on ATT?

Define 'reactivate' - are you using a different phone? If so, you need to switch your SIM card back to the 9000 and Register the phone: Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Register Now.

I loaded it on myself. I used Shrink an OS to cull out some crap, and currently have 29.5 megs of free app memory (I did not do a clean install, but installed it over .900). Updates as I get them.

I guess not too many people using the 9000 anymore. Anyway I just started loading it up. Hopefully no major issues. I hope the antenna reception stays decent and the camera improves. Will update in a while.

I'm loading it now but not sure why I did. I was doing quite well on .771. In fact, the battery life has been amazing, even with BT and WIFI on all the time. Hopefully just upgraders remorse and it will be fine. I've had problems with my Sirius all week so I don't need another crippled gadget...

After Shrink-a-OS it booted with 24MB free and I've got quite a few apps.

I'm currently using Torch 9800. Changed from Bold 9000. Assuming I wanted to convert back the the Bold 9000 (reactivate) and use official-os-5-0-0-1049, what specific steps do I follow? Carrier is ATT.

I'm not and expert at this but Is 5.0.0.1049 the AT&T OS for the Bold 9000? if it isn't you have to remove the vendor xlm. Then just switch the sim card from the Torch 9800 back to the Bold 9000 power on the phone and wait for it to register onto the network. What I do is then log into BIS and verify that the changes are recognized by BIS, if you have emails set up click move and follow the prompts. That has worked for me. My two cents.

This is by far the best 5.0 build. I have been running it since it leaked and it has the best memory stability and battery life. I fear it may be the last build for our beloved 9000's.... but if it is... it is a good one.

They're usually is no difference between the leaked and official versions of an OS. I've been running the leaked 5.0.0.1049 OS for weeks now and it has been great.

I'm using 5.0.0.681. PLatform 5.2.0.64I can't seem to get the upgrade to take? What am I doing wrong? Do I need to flash my device before I try and upgrade? Is this not an upgrade from what I am on?

I've been using the leaked version of this build for a couple weeks now and IMO its one of the most stable os out there. after a battery pull i have 25.5mb of memory with apps, google maps, app world, lookout mobile security, texas holdem live, bolt browser and a few other apps (i did shrink the os before i installed it) and i dont have to do a battery pull a the end of the day. the battery life is also better, it now lasts me for a little more than a day and a half (depending on usage of the 3rd party apps especially) 3G also works well. as i said before i think its a very good os.

What do you mean by "usually".... are they not identical?

The only issue I've had to date is that streaming video is a chancy proposition. Using the AT&T video site to listen to the Colbert Report will give extremely choppy video (although smooth audio), and listening to a youtube video with a bluetooth headset will cause a phone crash and reset if the connection is lost

They should be, unless a carrier restricts something in the OS before making it official.

This with a few tweaks using "networkacc" from emobistudio is super nice. The net accelerator makes a big difference.

I've pretty much used all previous releases, with varying degrees of improvement or gaffs along the way.

0149 is remarkable for my phone. Shrunk the OS and upgraded from 900 - memory is not leaking after 24 hours. This has never previously happened, in some ways it's freakish. I'll redact this after the weekend if I find it was an anomaly.

Right now, I am feeling like my battered 9000 has been reborn. As I don't personally give a tear about more than messaging and music playing on my phone, this is making me reconsider the notion of upgrading to an Android or iPhone. At least, there is now no rush.
