Should work fine. Just enable the BlackBerry service on the account, it's free on T-Mobile.

Are you sure? The last time my plan was changed, my 9900 stopped working and they had to change it back.

I guess I'm not sure. Just activated the service no problem on my prepaid device, it was an option right inside the T-Mobile app.

I signed up for Unlimited and now my data doesn't work on my 9900, so it seems my suspicions were correct.

If you go into your account area to add features, does it show BlackBerry?

No, not even before T-Mobile shut off the BIS servers in 2015.

Yeah, they didn't actually shut down BIS. They just stopped promoting it and pretend like they did.

If I login to my account on a computer and go do the following I have the option to turn it on or off.

    1) Under "My Current Plan" click on "Change plan or services"

    2) Scroll to the bottom and click on "Other Services"

    3) Checkmark "BlackBerry Optional Feature"

    4) Click "Next" and then "Submit"

Wow, really? That contradicts what I was told by the T-Mobile Blackberry specialists and people here. I had to change the APN settings to continue using it plus T-Mobile had to revert me to a legacy plan.

And I don't. I'm not sure why you don't believe me, but I don't have any of those options. I don't have "My Current Plan," I don't have "Change plan or services," I don't have "Other Services," and I can't add Blackberry. T-Mobile told me there was literally no way to add it separately to my account and the only way was to use the legacy plan when I spent several hours on the phone with them.

I believe you. Just confused as to why I have it. Sorry for your troubles.

Maybe the prepaid plan operates as a legacy account? Strange.

Going back to my original question, does anyone have a 9900 on a new postpaid T-Mobile plan that works?

I do. In fact I even have a bold 9000 on TMO with the BIS plan active! Works like a charm. I have 4 other BB9900's that work also on TMO Blackberry's BIS plan when I switch sims. Oh, I am also on the postpaid plan.

There is some bad news though, I'm stuck on edge speed!

Look at the bright side - the NSA can only spy on you at edge speeds

Update October, 2017: T-Mobile will still activate BIS for free on a Prepaid line, but you must do it on the phone. Here's how I did it:

    1) Bought prepaid SIM card, and got the $45 Simply Prepaid (4GB LTE) plan.
    2) Called 611, talked to a representative, asked him to add the "Blackberry Feature" under "other services". When I tried to do it through the self serve portal, I got an error and a response to call 611.
    3) Representative added BIS, and device provisioned itself.

We forget how good a job BB did in optimizing BB7 devices for slow data speeds. I activated my BIS account, and setup two email accounts...over an EDGE connection.
