it still doesnt explain why a simple calculator app or an app to take notes needs permission to read/write sms messages or look at my contacts or to connect to my data, we can not control that right now till marshmallow

It's Android. You are paying to become a Google sheep that will be sold to ad companies.

If my Z10 dies it will be iOS or Windows for me, at least you are their customer. (If Jolla doesn't survive that is)

    No BB10.

If by some twist of the fabric of space/time one is released, then I will consider it, as I have become extremely used to all the built in features of the OS.

Also, no FM radio... which I use on the Passport when travelling.

No interest in Android as the base OS.

I have grown to love Blend. Once Blend is supported and once the initial BB Hub bugs are ironed out, I will buy it. So for me its about blend.

When I first use BlackBerry, the reason is due to the keyboard and email. When bb10 came, I started to realize how much powerful the os is. Tried ios and android too and I know bb10 is the os for me. And if we read all the thread in CB during the past 3 years, its all about we are ok with not much apps and how bb10 is way better than android. And now, we getting into android. Not me. No android for me. It's embarrassing to think how much I had defended bb10 all these years and suddenly to own an android, even the one enhanced with BlackBerry features. I'm just not ready yet.

I recently got a note 4 to replace my old Z10, I miss my BB. I think of the Priv often but so expensive, even with an upgrade. Waiting for A the price to come down, or B get the experience and productivity suite on my Note4!

Hard to pick out just one of my many reasons for not buying one but you can take your pick:

    - If I wanted an android, i'd get a Nexus and not a BB. Android is best enjoyed rooted and not locked down securely
    - Sliders in my opinion are outdated and a pain to maintain in the long run. I've had so many wobbly sliders before and never going back.
    - I've always thought BlackBerry's strong point was in their OS and not as much in their hardware. They should have farmed out BB10 into a great hardware manufacturer instead of doing it backwards by taking android and building a device for it.
    - Overall, the Priv doesn't seem to be worth the asking price. Specially with better spec'd and proven androids for half the price. (the older Nexus 6 can now be had for under US $300)
    - The Passport SE is still the best overall BlackBerry device today hands down.

    Top three reasons for me:

    1) Price: Canadian dollar is **** so the phone cost is too high.
    2) Android: I'm sure I can get used to the OS but out of the box it really seems fragmented and requires a lot of tweaking.
    3) Sticking with BB10: Currently using a Z30 and the phone is in fantastic shape. BB10 is such a great OS to use and I have all the apps I need. I'm not sure I would want to switch right now.

    Look! It's Zedzilla30!
so true. z30 is a great phone.

Hmm, lets see... Between Android, price, incomplete software, heat/battery issues, concerns that BB might not be around to maintain this locked-down device... it would be difficult to pick my #1 reason.

Because willingly shelling out cash for another unnecessary Android device (been there, done that) made by BlackBerry would be kind of like willingly paying money for an unnecessary and expensive second root canal because you like your dentist.

No adequate upgrade for my Z30.

    - it's android not bb10
    - need no PKB
    - no real stereo like Z30
    - no separate HDMI port

That are the main reasons for me.

Way too expensive for what it offers.

Got a OnePlus 2 instead with better specs for 400$ less. Plus root, unlimited customizations, 6-7 hr SOT...I am in love, sorry BlackBerry.
