SMS Text Messaging Outage Chicago/NW Indiana

My 9650 with OS 6.0 has been running perfectly since I upgraded the current Sprint 6.0 OS.

Two days ago I began to get intermittent problems with sending or receiving sms text messages.

Now I cannot send any text messages, I get big red X with: "(sms error 4, Message ID 163), Permanent Error" every time I try to send a text message.

Anyone else in the Chicago or NW Indiana area experiencing similar problems with texting?

Have you tried updating your PRL? Calling Sprint?

YES, I went to Mobile Network Options, hit the BB button and selected Update PRL, then did a battery pull and tried to send a text.

Got the Big RED "X" on the text message with "(SMS Errror 4, Message ID 164, Network Problems"

I just spoke with 2 other BB users in my area, they are having the same problem, so its not our phones, its SPRINT!

I called Sprint that the friendly customer rep advised, "oh, it could be a probelm with a nearby tower" - LOL, no kiddin!

Gotta love this, Sprint rep just advised in their forums that:

"At this time the only resolution is to have the phone software downgraded to 5.0 and then have 6.0 reinstalled. This is done in a repair center and is recognized as a fix on CE device forums for 6.0 upgradable devices. "

Time to check out Verizon, this is nuts!
