Just got the following from my IT department:

Due to a RIM outage, no email messages are being sent to or received from BlackBerry devices at this time. All efforts are focused on working with RIM to resolve this matter.
Please make alternative arrangements to send/receive mail as necessary at this time using VPN, Citrix or GoToMyPC if you are remote.
You will be notified as soon as there are further updates.

Given our footprint in the US, IT usually lets us know if it is just a regional/office v. nationwide issue. I take the email to mean it's a nationwide issue.
