NOT trying to start any rumors but...DOS attack??
*NOTE* this is pure speculation.
Wasn't Anonymous a bit perturbed at RIM after the UK riots a while ago? Could they be a factor in this outage? It did start in the UK, and there were some threats, no?
Only my thoughts, absolutely zero evidence, but Sony is being hit again, it just makes me wonder...

I was in the more bit of the conspiracy theorist way of thinking.
Could this be the best ever way to launch iMessenger and iOS5??
1. Stimulate a massive attack against RIM services.
2. Launch the products which were copied from RIM and claim as "we are the inventors of this best ever messaging system"
Sounds too rhetoric but irritatingly "coincidental".
Well, pure speculation.
Period.

How would a flawed failover in Slough, UK, effect users in the Americas two days later? This is a real question, I'm a tree guy, not an IT savvy guy.
I can understand a "cascade" type event where one failure would lead to others down the line, but shouldn't RIM's servers in Canada be considered upstream? - 10-12-2011, 01:47 PM #8
