Cell phone not working? AT&T outage affects wireless customers in SoFLo -Sun-Sentinel
For those with cellphones not working in South Florida. My BlackBerry doesn't work. I can't emails etc... I found this article:
" If your cell phone is not working properly – and you are an AT&T customer – don’t blame your device. The company is reporting a South Florida-area outage that began sometime around 2 p.m.
The problem affects those on AT&T’s 3G network. Switching to 2G should mean your phone will make voice calls and send text, albeit on a slower network. To do so, you may have to shut off your phone and turn it back on so the cell phone can make the switch to the 2G – or the Edge – network.
The following statement is from South Florida AT&T spokesperson Kelly Layne Starling:
Some AT&T wireless customers from mid-Broward County south to Key West may not be able to make mobile-to-mobile calls or receive calls to their mobile from a landline due to an equipment issue. Only mobile broadband/3G service is impacted; 2G service is not. Network technicians are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the service interruption.
Starling said that shortly after 3 p.m. much of the outage was fixed, but that it was not a complete fix as of yet. The cause is unknown.
She said the outage does not appear to be related to Hurricane Irene.
