I am from India on Vodafone Carrier & the entire BlackBerry services i.e. BIS & BES is on outage.
Just a while back spoke to my Carrier guys & am informed that its a RIM issue from Canada & they are trying to sort it out on ASAP basis ...
Vodafone India claims RIM informs it'll be restored in approx 60 ~ 120 min time from now.Last edited by audio_engr; 10-10-2011 at 08:01 AM.

still down for me on O2 aswell, thought my 9900 was playing up this morning till i phoned O2! not that they where much help.
'blackberry services are down, we have no timeframe on when they'll be back up'Currently using an Xperia S but waiting in the wings for a new BB after i got bored of a 9900.....

It's driving me mad, Vodafone UK clearly don't have a clue what's going on, my local branch insisted on changing my sim when I went in to find out if there was a problem. Now I get a message saying my data plan isn't set up for those services which is a worry as they have added a problem onto a problem......idiots!

Tmobile UK here and BIS has been down for me, no bbm's or anything...tried batt pulls and nada...sent myself a register message and it didnt come through till an hr later.

Still down. O2 UK. Although a BBM I sent did get through, it was slow, and haven't had a confirmation response from my friends.

I am trying to reinstall Whatsapp messenger on my Bold 9700 after uninstalling it this morning. When I try to register my number I get this message:
Unexpected error:
java.io.interruptedIOException: Local connection timed out after 30000
Could this be anything to do with the BIS outage?? I am not very technology literate, and have no idea what the message means!!

Just spoke wth RIM TSupport. They are aware of a UK outage affecting all aspects of BB use: BES, BIS, BBM, PIN messaging, etc. THey reckon to have it sorted by tonight. I have loads of my clients affected.
Interesting that it will also affect UK users who are roaming abroad. I have clients in US who are also effected, but device is a UK one, on a UK network just using roaming while they travel. - 10-10-2011, 08:59 AM #50
Heck, I'd like to think so....
In the past it has only ever been a couple of hours where there has been an outage. Seemingly, this is a far bigger fault...
And the girl I spoke to at O2 seems to have fed me a pack of lies.. this doesn't seem to have anything to do with an 'update to BIS'... grr.Last edited by olsj8; 10-10-2011 at 09:02 AM.
