Default BIS..."message truncated due to size"...

2011-OCT-08, Carrier=Verizon, phone=9850

Turned on mobile this morning and found that e-mails sent to/from my 9850 via BIS for either/both Hotmail and MSN all show same error message "Message truncated due to size". Further, see same issue with another POP3 account (unrelated webmail service set up through major domain provider).

File Size: it is NOT a file size issue, many of these are simple text files and I have directly read, viewed the compliant size full e-mails at respective web-mail applications without issue.

Seem to recall other RIM users on other carriers having this sort of issue over last month, first time I've seen this on my Verizon 9850.

Notes:
A) Not seeing this problem with BES account - it is functioning normally.
B) After checking all of my BIS linked e-mail accounts, interested to discover that only ONE seems to be functioning OK - (VZW) bb e-mail "...vzw.blackberry.net" - yet all other BIS POP3 are having issues.

RIM Article ID: KB03592
Last Modified: 09-15-2011
Support & Services, BlackBerry Technical Solution Center.

KB03592-What is the maximum email message size when using a BlackBerry Internet Service account

Subject: What is the maximum email message size when using a BlackBerry Internet Service account?

Overview

Email messages received using a BlackBerry® Internet Service account cannot exceed 8 MB, regardless of the size of the mailbox.

Additional Information

The 11 MB size limit includes overhead created by base64 encoding. After applying base64 encoding, the largest email message that can be sent using a BlackBerry Internet Service account is 8 MB.

Multiple attachments are supported, however, individual attachments that exceed 8MB in size will be able to be viewed but unable to be downloaded to the BlackBerry Smartphone.

When an email message that is larger than 11 MB is sent to an email address that is associated with the BlackBerry Internet Service, the body of the email message will appear as:

"Message truncated due to size."

Default BIS Service Issue

I believe this has to due with a Blackberry BIS upgrade. I remember reading somewhere yesterday that the new BIS upgrade to version 4.1 was supposed to happen late last night into early this morning. Now all my messages show as truncated. A little more than a coincidence I'm thinking.

Default Messages Truncated

I just found out that there is a nationwide Blackberry outage which is due to the upgrade to BIS 4.1 last night. This is why we are all having the "messages truncated" issue.

Default BIS e-mail error resolved (at least for my phone/location)

Temporary errors with BIS routed e-mails appear to have been resolved (for my mobile on VZW anyway) sometime between ~ 13:00 & 13:30 EDT (GMT -4).
