I'm starting to think these are "brownouts". Like controlled blackouts for electricity rationing. They may be making major network changes in preparations for next week and have to bring things down for a few hours around the world in a controlled way.

Bla1ze thanks for the info. Wonder where that came from

Note that RIM is reporting 6.25% of users on these carriers are impacted.
My 21 work BES are impacted where as my personal BES is not....
I'm on AT&T on both work and personal BES.

That is an extensive list of carriers being affected...all of the America's and the Caribbean. Interesting here in the Mile High City I haven't had any data problems. I have been sending and receiving emails and bbm's all day on my bb 9900...

I take my previous post back. I just got hit with a barrage of BBMs from my Telus contact. I'm on T-Mobile.

I was wondering why my email alerts where hours late this afternoon.
First overseas and now here.
Are they updating something at the NOCs maybe?

I can confirm that Long Island area on AT&T was hit with BlackBerry service outage sometime between 5:00 and 8:00 pm. It was confirmed by AT&T rep. It looks like service is coming back now but it seems to still have interruption and delays.
I was switching and extending contracts with AT&T today. All went well except late afternoon we lost email, BBM and text services on both phones. I called AT&T around 7:00pm not knowing that BlackBerry service was down thinking that all the changes on my account cased the problem and something went wrong on AT&T end. Their rep told me our phones’ IMEI numbers were erased (don’t ask why???). They did restore everything on the account and data service was restored on my phone and but wife’s phone would not access any data services. The rep connected me with BlackBerry rep (in AT&T). We spent almost 40 minutes on the phone with AT&T until the rep realized there was an issue with BlackBerry service in general. I have scheduled follow up call from AT&T for tomorrow to verify all my services are working as supposed to. Hopefully it’s the case and no more BlackBerry service interruptions. - 09-22-2012, 08:41 PM #23Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

I just shrugged it off when most of my e-mails didn't load up properly. These things are bound to happen, people need to realize that nothing is ever perfect in the technology world. Nothing is ever going to be fault/glitch/bug free either.

RIM NOC has called an all cleared.
I can confirm this on my work BES.
We're back on-line
