Default BB Outage: RIM`s Server Hacked??

Hey Friends!

First of all! This is no official announcement or something like that!
This are only my thoughts!!!

I`m not a programmer, but for me itīs sound really weird that almost all Servers are outta service only because of that problem that RIM tells us...
And the security-back-up servers also are off??
Is it REALLY possible, that everything fails at the same time?!

Ok, maybe?

But I just read on Twitter:

BlackBerry Research In Motion:
Hoax chain messages are circulating on BBM. These messages did not originate from RIM. Please ignore & do not forward.

Sounds strange??
What do you think??

Keep your heads up!

Best wishes,

Slash

Some people find it funny to send these kind of messages, also happens on facebook, hotmail, msn etc.

Can't believe you're even taking this forwarded bbm message serious lol.
You know better than that :-)

Hahaha i really doubt that, but a educated specultion would make me say they're upgrading the servers for PlayBook support and accidentally screwed up!

Maybe you are right, but over 3days outage?
There must be serious things going on!

Sure, there are a lot of that things around, but RIM just posted that on Twitter...

Itīs kinda strange that all servers fail...
Never thought that would be possible.

Banks Of America was down longer. I don't think it's as sinister as a hacking. Most likely just server fails. Simple answer usually correct.

It is well documented that BIS does not scale well and extremely buggy, the outage most likely has to do with an update that will be announced at DevCon.

Rim posted that on twitter for the following reason:

They are working on getting a huge backlog of mail and data processed before everything will work normal again. Now these kind of messages if forwarded all the time contribute to that backlog. Ergo just making the problem worse.

this is the statement of RIM concerning the BBM message:

RIM is aware of a hoax message that has been circulated recently amongst certain BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) users. This is a hoax chain message. The message did not originate from RIM and does not impact the security of BlackBerry smartphones. Hoax messages are unfortunately an industry-wide issue. Any social messaging application on any platform, mobile or PC can be used to attempt to convince users to forward such hoax messages to one or more of their contacts. RIM recommends that users simply ignore the message and do not forward it, since this would only serve to expand the reach of the hoax message.

Update to BIS 4.1 went awry

No coincidence, the outages are occurring during a major upgrade. It gives RIM a black eye in network reliability.

Surprised RIM didn't blame the carriers, like they always do when you ask them for help over their defective hardware.

I just hope that when they do the update for Australia, they learn from this, and take their time and do it right.

So far we've been lucky over here. No outage what so ever. I don't know what I would do if my BIS went down.

RIM screwed up and has admitted it. It's as simple as that.
