I'd guess at least $599.

What wil it do? Because I have a ipad, and honestly it just sits. There's no need if you have a laptop. And half the time the ipad doesn't render the web right. Not worth it, to me anyway.

Price depends on whether or not it comes with a contract. If so, then I would expect to see it priced AROUND the same price as VZW's netbook offerings. Say around $200-250 with a 2yr contract.

They don't come with contracts. All information to date has said they will just have wireless, but be able to tether via usb to your BB mobile device. Which sorta makes sense because it'll be carrier agnostic then.

Ahh, you're right sorry. But regardless, it'll be via tethering to a BB (or any smartphone that acts as a hotspot) or to a wireless network, it won't be sold on a mobile contract (although if it's successful I can't imagine it would be terribly difficult to build in such a feature).

If it is going to be a wi-fi only and get on the carrier network via tethering I'd assume a lower price than iPad.

That being said no RIM products are very "cheap" monetarily speaking.

I see the Blackpad as an awesome Enterprise tool for Sales guys like myself... if it comes out with any of the rumoured features...big IF.

You do realize that Apple makes two versons of the iPad, the iPad and the ipad + 3G?
bot have WiFi, but only the iPad + 3g will have more forms of networking than the Cobalt/Blackpad/whatever.
