Sounds like the Odin refresh after all. It is supposed to have 512 mb ram, OS6 w/ webkit, 5.0 camera, and a hot spot browser according to the previous leak. What we do not know is what is going on with the processor. I really do wish it is a 1ghz processor. If it's the same processor as the Torch, I would not be as excited. It's sad that I still have no idea about the true processor of the 9550.

Ughh. But it wasn't true.. The sites that were selling it for $99 were selling it at that from the start.

yes, I heard that. news items can be deceiving. especially when written by media with a not-so-hidden-agenda.

So does this mean we're going to get an updated OS for our 9550's on September 30th? WTF....?

Sure hope the specs are right, even though I'll be one of the first in line to get it. Running out of upgrades though, might have to add another line... I just want a touchscreen BB running Blackberry 6, that's not a 9800 with crappy service.

If they only bump up the memory and processor I would be happy with that. I don't think the phone needs a major over haul. I would like to see 1gb memory and 1ghz processor. The rest of the phone could actually stay the same. The display is fine to me.

So the launch date is either gonna be Oct. or Nov.
It makes sense that the specs are gonna be better than the Torch's. Since the Torch was targeted for corporations and consumers, they put in the 624Mhz processor to save battery life. And i guess they felt corporations wouldn't care whether the resolution is 480x360 or 480 x 854.

Since Storm 3 is gonna be targeted purely to consumers, it makes sense that it would be 1Ghz, 1Gb of ram and a higher resolution. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the specs will match (and in some areas be better) than those Androids and iPhone 4.

But isn't there the outside chance that the crappy service on the 9800 is due to Blackberry 6? I hope not, because I'm thinking of upgrading to the next Storm. I tried the Storm 2 back in January but couldn't stand it and went right back to my Curve.
