No Storm 3 for Verizon?
Was going to pick one up when they became available. I guess we'll see how true this ends up being in the near future.

Was wanting to pick one up seeing how nice 6 is running on the Torch. Still have a line with upgrade just sitting at VZW.

Good...to announce something as great-looking as the PlayBook and then to later announce a redo of the Storm 2...bad, bad PR move.

Well... I'm somewhat disappointed since I still have my original Storm. I still really like it but was looking forward to more memory and faster processing speeds. So what will be the next step?
I'm now hoping for a super full touchscreen phone that will be the perfect companion device for the new PlayBook with similar attributes. Will just have to stay tuned to Crackberry! - 09-30-2010, 09:02 PM #8
Well that sucks... I hope this does not mean that the Storm line of phones are canceled? I wanted to pick one up since my company was offering me an upgrade and I was up for one.
I honestly do not think the S3 was the 9570, rather a Storm 2.5/"Storm Refresh" model.
We asked our Verizon rep a couple days ago this week and were told that the S2.5 will be released next month, while the S3 will be released later on.
I hope the Storm 3 will be released from VZW... - 09-30-2010, 09:16 PM #9hydroz_23 - S2 OS Links Superpage! 9550 Only * BBSAK

It wasn't my mistake, my boss asked... I know better.

However, the only reason why I mentioned it and thought it would be worth mentioning was for mere wishful thinking.

Moving this to 9570 forum.
- 09-30-2010, 10:26 PM #13
Just a guess, but if this is true then the 9570 must have still been a turd even with the extra memory. Having seen some of the craptastic stuff VZW has approved in the past, the S2 on OS 6 must have been a complete failure. Hopefully this will mean we will see the real Storm 3 sooner? I hope!

the processor has to be better IMO. i dont care what anyone says, a faster processor will make the phone running OS6 or the new OS smoother and more responsive. that is something that i think most BBs are lacking in right now. The OS is more robust but the hardware is barely increasing at all

You're right...I wasn't clear on differentiating hardware and software. Yes, I believe the processor would have actually been the failure point in this instance. Sorry 'bout that!

Lots of folks here have stated that the Storm refresh wasn't compelling enough to move from the Storm 2. It's just a commentary on how BlackBerry's offerings just are not as appealing as the other options out there. Verizon can only carry so many phones and it sounds like they felt they were better off carrying another device over the 9570.

Well as I have said in recent times here, I was going to go Android, but wanted to see what BB had to offer. Guess with not OS6 and a new browser for the S2, they made my mind up for me.
I have till the end of November so lets see what happens in the next 9 weeks. Also I read something about the BB Playbook working with the Storm so that might be a changer for me as well.
Always a Storm in my hands.

I wonder if the Storm refresh will show up on another carrier. I would love to see one on AT&T. It would complete our lineup 9780, 9800, and 9580. Best of all worlds in bb land.

How to Install or Upgrade to a New RIM BlackBerry Operating System (OS) with AppLoader | CrackBerry.com - 10-01-2010, 08:17 AM #23
I don't know what Verizon's intentions are about dropping the 9570 model. They could be throwing it back on RIM to give them something better to release on their network. Or it could be something different. I guess its just speculation at this point. But I am hoping that the exclusivity deal would expire so that we could see it on other carriers.

It seems to me that vzw was preparing for a Storm replacement. For them to reject the 9570 is significant to me. Are they trying to force RIM into speeding the release of the next CDMA flagship device? Could we see a CDMA Torch coming to Verizon?

Sounds like VZW is giving up on the Storm era. Now what?
