Well, first, I wouldn't want an upgrade of the Curve 8900 to be a 8xxx series, as that means it wouldn't have 3G

Second, unfortunately for us Curve 8900 users, it looks like the Curve series will be targeted for low-end consumers while the Bold remains more of the flagship for high end users.

Which is a bummer, in my opinion, as with large hands, I particularly like the Curve keyboard more than the Bold's keyboard.

This just struck me as add, I hear "big hands" (myself included) being the reason for liking the Bold (9000 the true Bold) keyboard over the curve keyboard. This is the first I've heard it being the reason to prefer the curve's keyboard.

Huh

Well, I like the separation between the keys. For me, it lowers the chance that I'll hit multiple keys at once typing fast on the phone. Who knows, I could be the weird one...

I'm pretty sure there's a 8980 in the works, but apparently it doesn't have 3G.

I hope they scrap the 8980...in this day and age, not having 3G on a smartphone could be a big drawback.

I think they may have and put the 9300 in it's place. But the 8980 looks so much better, haha. They should have gave the 9300 the 8980's form factor.

I completely agree. As I've said before, I do not like the Curve heading towards the cheap-consumer-crackberry for the mass.

The 8980 factor with 9300 internals would have been perfect. But with the 9300 not having an LED flash (it's useful for me) and a 480x360 resolution screen, it seems like it downgrades in some areas.

Oh well, I might have to suck it up and get a Bold eventually if I ever want some sort of high-end options....

The 8910 does not have 3G. No mention of an 8980, but most likely if released in NA or EU, it will have 3G. If it is an update to the 8910, then it will not as that was an Asian release.

From a feature perspective, the 8900 (aka abomination) is actually better than the 9300 (aka el cheapo device)

I love my 8900. I just hate how the curve has become the "entry" level BlackBerry. My first Blackberry was an 8100 when it first came out and I felt like that was entry level. After that I had an 8320 curve and I thought that was way better but when I got my 8900 I was floored by how much nicer it was compared to the 8320. I think if they offer OS6 for the 8900 I will be super happy.

Messed up how they abandoned the 8900...seeing that the 8900 is on par with the 9700 except for minor things. 8900 was best bb until the 9700 I think. Oh well I would blow my check on the torch but I'm trying 2 hold out for the 9780. Depending on features. We all know how rim go cheap on features lol. Wonder will Nintendo make a phone one day LOL

I love the 8900 too...**** I ditched my old 9000 for it, but I guess the 9780 is a worthy successor. Trackpad is the only real hardware related quibble I have with the new generation Blackberry's. I just don't care for them.

If you really want a true 8900 update, you are looking at the 9700/9780 Bold.
